FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I typically charge about $125 per hour for the first person for graduation and smaller portrait sessions, though if there is extended travel or equipment rental necessary, the estimate may go up from there. Adding additional people to a session is just $45 per person, and the number of images delivered will increase. Weddings start around $800 and can increase to nearly $3000 depending on coverage time and the number of images the client would like delivered.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Typically I like to get to know each other through electronic communication - email or facebook messages or even texts. This allows us to get comfortable through a medium that seems to be easy and low-pressure for everyone. We will then work together on the client's ideas for their photography, and I will generally aid with suggestions. We then set up a time to meet and photograph. If it's just a short session, we will meet the day of the shoot, and for events that may require more planning I typically like to meet with clients in advance over coffee to get a better feel for how we should move forward.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a fine arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I have been running my own photography business part-time since I was in high school in 2009, and have worked with other professionals in the area for the past few years learning proper business practices and gaining more experience, especially with wedding photography. I currently teach photography at Mallard Creek High School.
