Introduction
I meet students where they are. I find out what they enjoy learning as well as how they learn best. I try to incorporate those aspects into the approach I make for improving on their weaker skills. I also believe in using multiple modes of learning be it with hands-on materials, music or movement. I enjoy it when a student comes to the realization that they are capable and begin to make connections to the learning so that they become more independent and confident to the point where I am no longer needed.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I charge $40 per hour. However, I am willing to provide discounts for multiple weekly lessons or advance payment.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a Master's of Education in Literacy as well as a K-12 Reading endorsement and and K-12 ESL endorsement. As a licensed educator, I am required to take 6 college semester credits every 5 years, however, I tend to take courses of interest to me whenever I can.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I am a 3rd generation teacher. I wanted to follow the footsteps of my family members but they did not want to see me in a job with such little respect and pay. So, I forged into the international business world for a while. However, even there, the teacher came out in me and I was soon asked to train many colleagues in various aspects of the position. I eventually realized that corporate America was not for me and found my way to education by working at a French Immersion School. The rest, as they say, is history.
