What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Nothing complicated here! I charge a flat rate which includes all supplies, time and travel.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am always looking up new techniques, online classes and trying out new things at home to practice even more.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have been an artist since I could hold a brush, but canvas paintings began to lose their excitement. The idea to do murals came to me out of the blue one day. I had painted a small mural at my Mother-in-laws a year earlier and thought it was a great plan to expand my horizons and start my own business. Soon after posting my first ad online, business started booming and it hasn't slowed down much since!
What types of customers have you worked with?
My most common jobs are murals for a child's room or trees. People like to hand pictures on the limbs of trees - I believe that was a Pinterest-inspired idea!
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I recently completed a job of a beach scene for a youth center in Kannapolis. It turned out amazing!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I would advise a customer to have a general idea of what they need done. I am honored when people tell me to "Do whatever I want, just make it pretty" because I know they trust me - but I would rather a customer be a little more detailed.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
I feel that some clients don't understand the differences between a complex mural and an easy one. Some things are simple for me but others are more time consuming because I can see the extra time involved before I begin whereas the customer never noticed how detailed that particular part would be.
