FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
1) I am an ordained minister with the Christian and Missionary Alliance. I earned my ordination in Pennsylvania in 1986. 2) I recently completed a 9 month life care counseling course at the Summit Church in Kernersville North Carolina. 3) I have also been a regular attendee at the National Association of Biblical Counselors (NANC) conference in Lafayette Indiana.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
When my wife and I were married 34 years ago the extent our pastor had in helping us was a 30 minute meeting to see how we wanted the service to go. We had no idea what we were doing. We were just two kids blindly setting out on the wide and treacherous ocean of life in a row boat with no clue what we were doing. Looking back I wish that someone had cared enough to help us get off on the right foot. That memory, coupled with the the fact that I am an encourager and a teacher at heart, drives me to want to help couples talk and sort through the common issues that far too often derail their relationships. I want to help couples prepare for marriage as well as their wedding day because marriage and family are far too important to be treated lightly.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
This is one of the single most important events of your life. 1) Be sure that the person performing the ceremony is legally capable of performing your ceremony. 2) Don't be in a hurry. The months before you marry are crucial to your success as a couple. The conversations you have should do much more than revolve around the wedding day. Look for someone who will spend time helping you understand each other. Look for someone who will help you set yourself up for this wonderful, challenging adventure called marriage!
