FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated summa cum laude with my culinary degree and went to work at a really wonderful special events catering company in Massachusetts. We did wedding after wedding, beautiful events at some of the Newport mansions in Rhode Island. It is really special to be a part of something so grand and see your work come together in a setting from a movie or magazine. However it is exhausting! I eventually made my way to more low-key corporate catering before deciding to leave and start my own business.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I spent my years during college and afterwards pursuing what I thought were the paths to a socially acceptable career. I knew it wasn't what I wanted, but I was unsure of stepping out and taking a chance on a dream. After working in the corporate world, and having the opportunity to cook often for an ill family member with very specific dietary restrictions, it was not long before I saw that I could and should be doing what I loved and investing in making a difference where I was most apt.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
The past few years, I have worked daily as a private chef, providing daily services for my clients. Private chef work is a bit more formal than personal chef work, I love being able to spend the day in the kitchen preparing all the aspects of the meal I prepared for that day, I love having the consistent clientele and developing knowledge of their tastes.
