FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a degree in Computer and Electronics Engineering technology with honors. My initial training began with three years in the service department of ESCO Inc., Ephrata, PA in 2006 where I troubleshot and repaired a multitude of systems including fire alarm, home theater, access control, CCTV, and burglary alarms of various manufacturers and complexities. In 2010 I began working independently with a nationwide company that serviced many nationwide chains such as Family Dollar, Jared, Game Stop, Helzberg Diamonds, etc., just to name a few. Training in my field is never ending as new systems and technologies become available. This constant growth and progression is probably my favorite part about this line of work, there’s always more to learn.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
You wouldn’t hire a lawn mower mechanic to fix your Porsche! Make sure that the tech you’re hiring is licensed to work on and install equipment you’re looking for. Having an “unlimited electrical license” does not qualify someone to install data or surveillance equipment. Also, security alarm systems require a separate license and background checks to protect consumers from irresponsible contractors who “do that too”.
