FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Of course! Each calendar year, the Brokers of Guardian Property Management elect to take Continuing Education courses in order to stay on top of their profession, which translates into our clients having the most up-to-date information when it comes to managing and maximizing your investment property. In order to maintain a North Carolina Real Estate Broker's License, a licensee must take a minimum of eight hours of continuing education. It is extremely important to make sure any firm handling the management of your property maintains his or her license, which can be confirmed through the licensee section of the North Carolina Real Estate Commission's website (www.ncrec.gov). Licensure of your property management company helps protect your investment and requires the property manager to adhere to laws governing the handling of monies received and issued.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I've always loved the game of Monopoly! The old "buy four houses and trade them in for a hotel" theory certainly has merit. My passion for helping others has lead me to enter the fields of non-profit management with two leading local agencies, and working as a legislative assistant to a Congressman during the early 90's. During the late 90's I decided to pursue a career that blends my love for real estate and my passion for helping others. I receive a great deal of satisfaction knowing that I've helped someone save money, consider facts that they may not have pondered and/or make an informed decision. I've extended these values by leading teams of volunteers on numerous mission trips to New Orleans and Gulfport, MS after Hurricane Katrina.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
When considering the services of a professional to manage your property, it is important to choose carefully! The manager you select should have a primary goal in mind; to maximize your cash flow while keeping your property in top condition! The company you choose should also be able to provide you with detailed monthy reports indicating the status of your tenants and their payment history. In addition, the company you choose should be able to process and quickly turn around the montly rent; meaning, look for a company that provides online rental payments to their tenants. This way, you ensure that you're not waiting for your check during the middle of the month.
