About
I think my work stands out because I care about spreading this system, and helping people really be able to defend themselves and their loved ones. I never saw myself as a teacher before, but now the best part is seeing someone finally getting a movement down or the understanding of why kicks in. Those are fantastic moments.

Ken was absolutely amazing. He exceeded our expectations! He gave us practical and useful techniques that we could start to implement IMMEDIATELY. You do not have to have a self defense background to understand and benefit from his training. Ken is super professional and I'd recommend Raleigh Tactical Martial Arts to anyone looking for training!

I met ken through a friend and tried one lesson and was instantly hooked and wanting to come back for more, I took his class for about a year or more and found myself learning new things left and right and achieving a better fighting skill than i ever thought possible. Though training wasnt always easy, if you got stuck on a new move or new technique Ken was always able to find a way to help you leap over the obsticle and get the new move or techinque down, The best thing to do like he always told me is go slow and practice practice practice and in time everything will start to unfold. Ken is a excellent teacher and would recommend anyone taking his class.

I've been taking private lessons with Mr. Pratt for several months. He is always on time, very professional and does a fantastic job of catering the training to my ability level. If you are looking for a weapon based martial art I highly recommend training with Mr. Pratt.

Ken is a qualified instructor with vast knowledge on the subject of self-defense. I have been around a lot of instructors over my tenure; Ken is definitely at the top of the list. I would recommend anyone who wants to gain practical and tactical skills to work with Ken. He is the definition of a true professional!

My first training experience with Mr. Pratt was via an introduction to Counterpoint Tactical International. I found his instruction to be concise, patient, insightful, and motivational. Being new to the system, I had many questions regarding the specifics of certain concepts and techniques. Mr. Pratt took the time to explain/demonstrate the answers to these questions in a way that I could process and relate at my current level of training. Since then, I have had the honor or training with him on many occasions, and am still highly impressed by his consistency, dedication, and knowledge. Additionally, Mr. Pratt displays an excitement and passion for both the arts themselves and the teaching thereof. I find this kind of passion invaluable when submitting my training for instruction, and would highly recommend his services.

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am a direct student of Grandmaster Zach Whitson. As such I am constantly training, testing, and teaching. We do what is termed a living art, which means it's constantly changing when something proven is added to the system.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

My father was a army boxer, and I hate seeing people prey on what they see as weaker people.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Please don't buy into the hype or row of trophies and think this is the place for self-defense. Rule of thumb to follow is ask about knife, stick, and gun tactics. It makes sense when these are the things that will be used against you.
