- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge $80/hr for SAT/ACT private tutoring and college counseling, $60/hr for academic tutoring grades 11 and 12 and college application preparation, and $50/hr for academic tutoring grades 7, 8, 9, and 10. SAT/ACT tutoring sessions last 2 hours once a week. Academic tutoring sessions are 1.5 hours generally with a 1 hour minimum. There is a discount for small group tutoring. For example, if two to three students wish to tutor SAT together, the fee is reduced, there is a discount for small group tutoring. For example, if two to three students wish to tutor SAT together, the fee is reduced: 2 students pay $50.00 each, 3 students pay $40.00 each.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I offer free consultations so that I may introduce myself, meet the student and parent(s), assess the needs of the student, create a plan of action, and schedule sessions. I tutor at the the student's house, preferably at a kitchen or dining room table for convenience and supervision. However, I am flexible and willing to discuss alternatives.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have earned a B.A. in Philosophy from Tulane University and B.A. in English Literature and a Master's in Teaching - Secondary School English Literature from The Citadel. I have worked for The Princeton Review and Charleston and Berkeley County school systems as a certified teacher, substitute teacher, and tutor. I have 18 years experience and presently carry a North Carolina Teacher's certification.
