Introduction: I have 33 years of communications experience -- first as a newspaper reporter, editor and publisher, then as a magazine editor and publisher, and now as a communications director in the power industry. I was trained in editing by old-school, Lou Grant-style mentors -- no nonsense, take no facts or spellings for granted. My newspaper experience has taught me how to find the story nuggets and get to the point, but do it in a way that leaves a lasting impression.
