He installed electrical outlets for me but 2 of them were not properly installed. The outlets shut off when in use. When I asked him to come back he was going to charge me again to fix the problem that should have been avoided in the first place.Aug 26, 2018VerifiedJerome O.'s reply
Job Description: Service call, kitchen remodel / cabinets. Owner needed new circuit added in kitchen (condo). Owner had already purchased ARC fault / GFCI protection receptacle outlets prior to our arrival. I explained that these sometimes have nuisance tripping because of the arc fault protection built in. Had I purchased the materials I would have opted to go with a ARC fault breaker instead of a outlet with the protection. This technology is sensitive to certain types of equipment turning on, which can arc - causing the nuisance tripping, such as microwaves. When we left, all receptacles were working as intended after testing our install. Owner called saying the receptacle would sometimes trip while using the microwave. I reminded her of what we discussed and explained that is most likely the reason for its tripping. As this was a service call and we installed her products she purchased, I did say if we come out and find that it is because of her wiring or the defective / nuisance tripping ARC fault outlet, I would have to charge her. I also told her, if there was some fault in how we installed it, if there was some error on our part, she would not be charged. Yelena could not accept that it could be something other than our fault and would not agree to us coming to check to verify the issue. To my knowledge, she had a unlicensed electrician come to remove the arc fault protection that is by code required to be installed by-passing what was causing the nuisance tripping.
Overall good experience! Would definitely recommend to others.May 22, 2018Verified
