FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For a smaller project that only takes a few hours, I charge $35/hr. For a longer project, I arrange for a lump sum payment with the customer, with an initial payment, a midpoint payment and a final payment upon completion.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Once a new customer expresses interest in hiring me to edit his or her work, we schedule an initial meeting (with a $35 charge for a one-hour session), during which we decide if we are a good match, we discuss the goals and expectations of the customer, and, if it's feels like a good fit, we get to work on the editing process. We also decide on a lump sum figure for the project, if it is of such length that an hourly rate would not be feasible.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Middlebury College with a BA in English. I was News Editor of the college newspaper, which involved not just writing articles, but also reading the galleys of the paper before publication. I taught French and English literature and language for many years, I have an excellent grasp of syntax, vocabulary, grammar and stylistics in both languages. I am also an avid reader who appreciates excellent writing and story telling.
