Jerome did a great job mounting a 60inch TV to the wall. Was a tough job as there was a concrete wall behind the drywall but he managed to make it work. It looks great.

The driveway had steps to the walkway and I could never snowblower it. Matt replaced it was a gentle slope walkway that is much easier to maintain. Fair price. Did the job when he promised he would. Three years later and they look the same as the day he poured the cement.

Pete is absolutely amazing. He made several repairs to an apartment including painting, replacing dry wall, patching a hole in the floor, caulking the walls, installing molding trims and plenty more. Whenever he discovered any issues, he brought tontonmy attention and found creative ways to make things work. He's personable, professional and punctual.

Needed to get some masonry on my front steps and porch fixed; was putting it off because I did not know what needed to be done. I also needed some tile work done on a recently installed fireplace. Nertil and his team were great - quickly responded to my request for a quote and explained what needed to be done. I ended up having the two projects going on simultaneously and Nertil was respectful of my time and space managing the two projects. Always let me know what time they would be over and took care while working both inside and out not to track dirt into the house. Overall great guys to work with and fine craftsmen; I would not hesitate to call them for my next project.

Tom and his team are top-notch professionals with high standards and impeccable integrity. He has respect for your time, your home and the project costs. He did a complete gut renovation of my kitchen, refinished floors in my living area and floor installation in my master bedroom, which was on-time and within my budget. In fact, I decided to hire him to do two bathroom renovations, door installations and stair redesign. He is patient, knowledgeable and an excellent communicator throughout the various projects. His work speaks for itself.

I highly recommend Carlos - CCD Construction Corp. Carlos not only renewed my faith in contractors and the home improvement process, but he also surpassed my expectations. The work I entrusted Carlos to do was no small task (3 stoops, patio, driveway, walkway/apron, chimney). Not only did he start on time, but he also completed the whole job in a timely manner. A big plus was that CCD Construction did not leave a mess behind when they were finished!!!! Carlos possessed all the traits any customer would want in a good contractor. I found him to be very personable, knowledgeable, and trustworthy. Most importantly, I felt that Carlos (without a doubt) had my best interest at heart from beginning to end! The workmanship and customer service displayed by Carlos and his team were top notch! I could have not asked for a better experience than the one I had with Carlos and CCD Construction. I am one very satisfied customer! Fantastic experience!!!!

Joe did a great job installing a basement egress window. He had to cut the wall to extend the window space since the new window is larger than the old window. Joe was able to complete the job in a few hours. His price was extremely reasonable. In addition, I find Joe to be respectful, honest and easy to work with. My experience with Joe was pleasant and I am satisfied with the work he did! After the project, my son sealed the corners with Sheetrock and painted the space. Thanks again, Joe.

We had a new roof, gutters, a fence and some other small home maintenance work done. The craftsmanship of all of the work, especially the roof, was superbly done. It's a colonial with particular edges which required hand made solutions to bring it back to its natural glory and that is exactly what was done. We were clients and sometimes students, as time was taken to explain the process, materials being used, alternate solutions etc to ensure that we were comfortable with the job. We would and we have recommended All Remodeling and Construction to others.

Very professional , David and his team showed up early, got to work removing a concrete patio. The weather was nasty , but they didn’t cancel. I would highly recommend these guys for any job you have inside or outside of your home. The price was very reasonable in comparison to other quotes, and I couldn’t speak more highly about the quality of their work. I have already booked them for other jobs. Use these guys!!

Hiring Matt is your guarantee of project success ! He showed up on time, responded quickly with a reasonable quote, checked back in on our decision, seemed interested in our job and completed it AND two others in addition because we were so pleased ! In speaking with him we learned that he has clocked thousands of hours in commercial and residential construction. Consequently his talent and know-how are obvious ! And a nicer guy you will not find ! He spent the better part of two weeks with us on our framing, sheetrock, and flooring installation. It was like saying goodbye to an old Friend when he left ! But no worries, we will see Matt again on the next project !!

They did a great job painting our home's interior, our concrete patio and staining our deck. They also repair several cracks in our concrete patio which looks great now. They paid attention to and followed all of our instructions with the painting. Their edges were very crisp. They also worked fast and were very neat. Their painters George and Edwin were very polite. My wife and I both love the job they did,

Ryan came over today as planned. Good attitude, ready to work and a funny guy too. Our deck and stairs look great, and he even threw in painting the wood lining our driveway. He did such a great job, he’s eventually coming back to take care of the cracks in our concrete, and I’m sure that work will be just as fantastic! Thank you, Ryan!

The first time that I used Jay-Quin contractors was about 15 years ago when they did cement work for me. They did my patio, driveway, steps and sidewalk. None of the cement work has ever cracked which is why I called them for my next job. They did the retiling of my downstairs bathroom. The work was flawless and I never needed to call them back for anything. The next job was in my kitchen. They installed a new kitchen countertop and installed the new appliances. They also painted the kitchen. The next job was to remove the bathtub in the master bathroom and to put in a shower. The work that they did was outstanding. They purchased tiles to match my bathroom tiles and installed a beautiful mosaic in the shower. You would never know there was a bathtub in the bathroom. They also removed paneling from the two smaller bathrooms and smoothed out the walls and painted the rooms. Friends who have seen the rooms cannot tell there was ever paneling in the two bedrooms. I also wanted a light and a ceiling fan in each room. That was also done. The most amazing thing about Jay-Quin is not only the magnificent work that they do, but they never leave dirt around to clean up. They vacuumed every day and cleaned up as much as they could. I would never consider using any other contractor for any work in my home. The workers are extremely nice. They work as fast as they can and their work is precise. This is an amazing company and I would never think of hiring anyone else to work in my home.

I have used the services of Alex Generoso and Bella Casa Contracting since 1997. They have renovated and remodeled three homes for me. One of these was a whole house gut rehab which turned out beautifully. They have renovated bathrooms, kitchens, installed new roofs, done tile work, concrete work outside and installed new floors. Through the years I have been pleased with their work and find Alex easy to talk with and always eager to do a good job. I found him to be honest and a craftsman who demands the best of himself and those who work with him.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you find a good concrete contractor?

Concrete contractors pave driveways, build foundations for homes, install retaining walls, create hardscaping for front and back yards, build concrete steps, and so much more. When searching for a driveway contractor, read reviews from previous customers and ask for referrals. Ask the contractor for photos of examples of their work that’s similar to what you want. Confirm they will get the proper permits so your driveway is up to code. Hiring a driveway contractor to install concrete can average $5-$6 per square foot, or more, depending on where you live, the slope and grade of the driveway site, and regional labor costs. For a new asphalt driveway, the cost could average from $3-5 per square foot. A standard concrete driveway of 500 square feet averaging $5-$6 per square foot would cost $2,500-$3,000 — so it pays to research someone who will do quality work. Excavation and grading work can increase your cost per square foot significantly. Ask whether the contractor provides a materials and labor warranty for their work. Some cracking of the concrete may occur as it settles, but you should talk with your contractor about any structural or aesthetic concerns you have. When hiring a concrete contractor, check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to redo a concrete driveway?

Replacing or renovating a damaged or time-worn asphalt or concrete driveway can boost your curb appeal and add to your home value. If your concrete driveway is nearing 20 years or more, it may be wise to invest in an entirely new driveway, instead of redoing your current one. Asphalt driveways average 15-20 years of life, so if you start needing major repairs around the 15 year mark, weigh the pros and cons of repairing or replacing it. Request bids from two to three driveway contractors to determine pricing and project scope, and check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack. Here are some examples of average costs:

    • The national average cost to hire a concrete specialist is $2,750, but that price can vary greatly depending on the work needed to repair and resurface your concrete driveway, the square footage of the project, current costs of concrete, and regional labor rates.
    • Driveway contractors average $2-$3 per square foot to smooth and resurface your asphalt driveway.
    • Resurfacing concrete driveways averages $3-$10 per square foot. Pricing can depend on repairs needed, project size and geographic location.
    • Nationally, the average cost for resurfacing a 500-square-foot driveway ranges from $2,000 to $5,000.
    • Sealant for a concrete drive can cost $20-$80 per gallon.
    • Sealant for an asphalt drive averages 25 cents per square foot.

    What do paving contractors do?

Paving contractors can be hired to install a concrete or asphalt driveway at your home, office or property. They can also repave an asphalt or concrete driveway that has been damaged by time, weather or heavy loads. When you are looking for a driveway contractor, request quotes from at least three professionals who are in good standing and have great customer reviews. They should do a site visit and write you a bid, detailing the work involved, materials needed, approximate length of the project and estimated cost.

The site for your new driveway will determine costs and the work required for your contractor. First, the ground must be excavated to lay a clear path. This means removing any trees, bushes and stumps. Next, the driveway contractor will grade the area, making a level surface for the concrete or asphalt. To ensure proper drainage, driveway contractors should install a sub-base of compacted gravel (or similar) 4 inches-8 inches deep, depending on your soil type. Then the concrete or asphalt may be poured and smoothed over the top. Your driveway contractor should recommend an appropriate sealant for your climate and advise you on curing time.
