I explained that the job was to unload two Uboxes (Uhaul) with furniture from a 1.5 bed 1 bath apartment into my new apartment, however, there was a misunderstanding about the scale of the job. When they arrived and saw the scale, they claimed I did not tell them what I had and were surprised by the size of the Uboxes - despite me being intentional in communicating the details of the job and the Uboxes being standard size. I asked if they could still do it (giving them an opportunity to turn down the job, but they still claimed they could do the job). We had negotiated a rate beforehand based on the exact price I paid similar movers to pack the Uboxes, but because it was more than they thought, they asked how much more I could pay (stressing that they meet clients where they are at). The most I could really do was $100 more and they got started unloading. However, by the time they finished they asked for $200 more on top of the base price that was originally negotiated. I paid them what they asked just to be done with the ordeal. Overall, they got the job done and were cordial, but it was clear they had never handled professionally packed Uboxes. I would have appreciated clearer communication, transparency, and professionalism throughout the process.
