Jason has reasonable prices and gets the job done. Oh and a great sense of humor too! Although I initially contacted him to fix my dripping faucets, I ended up using his services for two other jobs. He gave me a nice so called "frequent flyer discount" for the third job. I have him on my speed dial now and will be calling him first for anything that needs to get done!

Jerome did a great job mounting a 60inch TV to the wall. Was a tough job as there was a concrete wall behind the drywall but he managed to make it work. It looks great.

The team at Platinum Moving did an awesome job mounting my television. They were on time, courteous and very professional. I was very pleased with their work. The team took their time to make sure that the mount was installed to my satisfaction and they also cleaned up the install area which was greatly appreciated ( bonus points for them). I would recommend them to anyone looking for a professional install team at great affordable prices.

Purchased a living social coupon for TV mounting services and after contacting Jeff to redeem the copuon, he was prompt in scheduling time to come and mount my TV. I was impressed with how my TV was mounted and also hired him to hang up a few paintings and large full lenght mirror. He took into consideration the height, symmetry and overall layout in determining the best angle/positioning of TV, Mirror and pictures. Satisfied customer.

My experience was fantastic with Home Theater Crew. Moe was thorough, professional, friendly and the price was very reasonable for the job. He ran into some hiccups in mounting my television and running the wires because of cement beams behind the wall that we had no idea were there, but each time we hit a snag, Moe had an answer for it. He worked through everything and the job was done exactly how we wanted it to be done. Great service all around.

Marcel did a great job mounting television. He also recommended a cost effective mount to buy. Marcel was also very happy to discuss other enhancements I wanted to do in the apartment. I bought the shelves he recommended and subsequently had him back to install the shelves and more. I will certainly be working with Marcel for my future home improvement needs and highly recommend him.

He was great help in mounting my tv. Was able to fit me in on short notice and his quotes are very good. He came and got the job done quickly while still having a personality. Even though I’m good with my hands he was able to explain the more technical parts well. Would definitely recommend.

Pictures do not do this project justice (sorry they are the incorrect direction). This company did a PHENOMENAL job. Background - I wanted to replace my 32-inch TV sitting on my mantle (before pic) with a 55-inch wall mounted TV (after pics). From the outset I knew this was going to be a challenging job for a few reasons: (1) the walls are made of plaster and I was not sure what was behind the wall (studs, plywood, etc), (2) my mantle is 12-inches deep, and (3) I wanted a mount that would bring the TV from above the fireplace to eye level. Quite a list of requirements but this company went above and beyond. After explaining the situation and sharing few of the brackets I was looking at online WallMount patiently took the time to explain why the brackets I was thinking of were not compatible with my project (which boiled down to basic physics). He then volunteered to source the proper mount. For me this conveyed that I was dealing with a professional who, although he had not seen my walls in person from the pictures and his prior experience, knew enough to know what was needed to execute the project. The mount sourced by Wall Mount allows the TV to be brought down to eye level (this was a requirement to make sure I would not injure my neck over time looking up at the TV). The mount is easy to move too. He was on time, cleaned up afterwards and hid the wires well (considering they TV needs enough wire to move up and down). To be honest it looks better than I imagined and I would not hesitate to recommend this company again. I am extremely happy.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Who wall mounts TVs?

Electricians, handymen and TV installation specialists may all provide television mounting services. The person who does the mounting should be qualified and knowledgeable about basic construction concepts as well as working with audiovisual cables. In general, no specialized certificates are required to provide television mounting services, but as always do your diligence and make smart hiring decisions.

It’s important to find an experienced professional who will ensure the TV wall mount meets building code. Most regions have fire codes that don’t permit high-voltage power cords behind walls (low-voltage wires like HDMI and video cables are generally acceptable). A basic wall mount on drywall may take approximately one to two hours, while more complex mounts on brick or stone with hidden cables can take three or more hours. If you need more electrical outlets installed near your entertainment system, you may want to hire an electrician. Check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

What should you do with a broken LCD TV?

Nationally, the average price range for TV repair is $60-$90. LCD TV repairs are one of the most common TV repair requests. A liquid crystal display (LCD) TV uses the same technology as your smartphone and most computer screens. Images are created on an LCD screen by electric currents that pass or block light through liquid crystals that are encased between two polarized, glass-like sheets. LCD TVs can be very thin and are relatively affordable, making them one of the most prevalent types of TV on the market. If you have a broken LCD TV, it can probably be repaired. Common problems that can be repaired include a blank screen, sound issues, power problems and digital connection problems. Here is one example of LCD TV repair cost:

  • 55-inch Samsung LCD TV repair: $150, including parts and labor
    • The LCD was intermittently powering up and powering off. The main circuit board was removed and replaced.

Can you fix a flat screen TV?

Yes, you can usually fix a flat screen TV. Whether you have a plasma, LED, OLED, HDR, HD or even LCD, TV repair pros can repair your TV. Flat screen TVs are expensive, and when they stop working it can make your heart stop. But TV repair technicians have advanced along with TV technology and are equipped with the proper tools and training for major and minor repairs. If your flat screen is too massive to transport, most repair companies have pickup and drop-off service. For the most common problems, TV repair pricing might range between $175 and $200 on average. Here are examples of the most common problems:

  • Power problems: The TV won’t turn on or will not stay on once started.
  • Digital problems: All connections are in place but you’re not receiving any signal.
  • Sound problems: There is no sound, the volume doesn’t respond to attempts to raise or lower it, or the volume is inconsistent.
  • Screen problems: The TV is on but there is no picture.

How much does it cost to mount a TV?

Elevate your home style with television mounting services. The national average price for television mounting services ranges between $100 and $130. Factors that can affect cost are the material of the wall you want the TV mounted on, whether you want the wires hidden, and any additional entertainment system connection you desire. It probably costs more to mount a TV on brick, stone or concrete than on drywall or plaster due to the added labor required to drill holes. For example, a company may charge an additional $99 to mount a TV on a brick wall. Here are some examples of average costs for television mounting services:

  • Basic TV wall mount: $40. Does not include bracket, device connection or strip management.
  • TV wall mount: $119. Includes bracket, mounting services, strip management system (for concealing external wires), and connection of all entertainment devices.
  • TV wall mount with wires hidden inside wall: $139.
  • Installation of additional electrical outlet: $65.
  • TV wall mount over fireplace with wires hidden: $179-$249.
  • TV wall mount and up to 5 speakers wall-mounted with hidden wires: $399.

Can a TV be mounted above a fireplace?

You may be able to mount your flat screen TV above your fireplace for a more streamlined look in your living room. In fact, TV mounting professionals can hang your flat screen TV flush with a wall or from a tilting or full-motion bracket mount in any room in your home. A tilting or full-motion mount may be the best option above a fireplace so you can tilt the TV down for the best viewing angle. Whether the wall above your fireplace is brick, drywall, concrete, stone or plaster, most television mounting services can accommodate your needs. Hardier wall surfaces like concrete or brick will require more labor and expertise to mount, and will likely have a higher price range.

If you want your AV and cable wires hidden in the wall, you will also pay a higher price due to the added time and skill to properly drill the holes and run wires. Before mounting your TV above your fireplace, consult with the manufacturer about necessary distance from heat sources. If the space above your fireplace gets too warm, another location could be better for the longevity of your TV. Your television mounting services may take between one and two hours, or more depending on your home theater setup.
