- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We will schedule an initial meeting, preferably in-person at my office. If we will be preparing your tax return, we request that you bring up to three previous year's returns as well as your tax documents for the current year. We will then collect pertinent personal information and ask questions related to your documents as well as some open ended questions to assist in discovery of potential tax deductions or other tax issues. Turn around time to complete your return is two weeks maximum. For the first year, we encourage our client to come in for a brief review of the finalized return, and sign the e-filing authorization. All tax clients are provided with either a hard copy or electronic copy of their finalized tax return, whichever is preferred.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
In addition to my accounting degree from the University of Washington, I normally complete at least 20 hours of tax education per year, and more if there are significant tax law changes. I also subscribe to numerous tax publications to keep me abreast of current developments.
