FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When I work with new customers for a landscaping design and install, the customer will first give me a general idea of the work they'd like to have done. We then set a time to meet at the site where the work is to be completed. Occasionally, my customer's life is too busy to meet with me, so in that case I'm happy to visit the site myself. After visiting the site and discussing options, I usually can provide a verbal estimate for the cost of the project on the spot. For more complex projects that may require additional information, I'll send an estimate via email once I gather the information I need. After reviewing the estimate, a date is set for the work to be completed. When the work is completed, some of my customers prefer that I send an invoice via email with a link to pay via PayPal, although I do take cash, checks, or credit cards as well.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've learned all of my skills through training on the job. Over the years I've really developed a knack for concrete and flagstone work that I'm very proud of. I've also learned to speak fluent Spanish entirely on the job which has come in handy in many aspects of my life.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
When I finished High School, I didn't intend to make landscaping my career, but after working a summer in my first job, I found that I had a passion for working with my hands and turning outdoor spaces into extensions of peoples' homes. There are few things in life that give me greater pleasure than to take a drab and run-down outdoor area and turn it into a usable area that clients and their families can enjoy. When I successfully complete a project that brings families together outdoors, I feel like I've done my small part in connecting people back to nature in our overly digital world.
