About
Destijl: The style; Holland, 1917. Destijl is a "Constructivist" inspired type of design, reminiscent of European industrial art movements of the early 20th century. Proponents of Destijl (pronounced dis-still), sought to express a new utopian ideal of spiritual harmony and order. In general, Destijl proposed ultimate simplicity and abstraction, both in architecture, painting and design. I take great pride and pleasure in providing my clients with a space they love. The place they love going to, being in, caring for, and sharing. Sometimes, working with out of the ordinary materials, repurposing, taking the necessary time and paying attention to all the little details that take an ordinary place into an amazing space.

I have enjoyed working with Sara, my decorator. From our first meeting she understood what style I was going for and has spent hours looking for the furniture and accessories we discussed. I'm anxious to see it all come together in my room and know it will be beautiful! Ruth G Rio Rancho, NM

Sara has done several interior design jobs for me. She is very professional and her work is amazing, she also is very reasonable in pricing, Sara can take any space and make it look magical. She goes on an above and out of her way to make sure you are happy with the work. She never leaves a mess behind it's always very clean when the job is done. I use Sara for all of my jobs and I highly recommend her.

Sara is very accommodating to my busy schedule. She is very quick to pick up on my decorating tastes and does not waste my time looking at items that would not appeal to me. Once she takes on a project she stays with it and does not get sidetracked. She keeps my interest in focus when dealing with contractors or subcontractors. Best interior decorator I have ever met.

Sara will see potential in spaces you never even considered. She's remarkable, while we talked she moved this and shoved that, and all of a sudden I actually liked the way my living room looked, and then the redo! I love it.

Sara was very attentive and helpful throughout the design process. Not only did she help look for decor pieces, she also helped me hang pictures, move furniture, hang curtains, etc. She has an excellent eye for placement and pattern. She notices minute details. She was frequently available via text and in person. She's extremely friendly and continued to give her input even after our official design period was over. Sometimes, she can be a little disorganized and scattered but overall, she's great!

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Typically, I charge a flat fee of $150 for consultation. If hired, I waive that fee and depending upon the scope of work, my services are very competitive. I never upcharge for items purchased, meaning if you need a new chair and I have a supplier who gives me a trade discount, I pass that discount on to you. I am honest and fair.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

When working with a new client, the most important and first thing I do is listen. By listening I am able to capture an idea, a dream, and thoughts for a perfect pairing.
