Hi, my name is Jono.
I’m a former architect with nearly two decades of experience in product design, mechanical and structural engineering, and hands-on fabrication. My work has taken me around the world, creating everything from furniture and large-scale public art to Burning Man installations and custom architectural projects.
For over 10 years, I managed metal shops in Brooklyn—handling everything from welding and design engineering to client relations and COO-level operations—producing work for high-end clients and celebrities while mastering a wide range of materials and methods.
Now back in Nevada, I’ve established my own shop where I continue to build with the same dedication to detail, creativity, and problem-solving. Whether you need custom design, expert fabrication, CNC machining, welding, structural solutions, or simply high-quality repairs done right, I bring the rare ability to take projects seamlessly from concept to completion.

Jono from Hollow Arch (hollowarch.com) promised a cat fence extraordinaire, and he delivered an excellent design with professional execution. I would highly recommend Jono for his design skills and ability to work with metal and wood in a very creative way. Thank you, Jono, for a job well done!

The stairs on our deck were deteriorating and had become a safety hazard. We found Hollow Arch on Thumbtack and reached out to Jono, who responded promptly and came out to provide a fair and reasonable estimate. He even went above and beyond by cutting up a fallen tree and repairing part of our fence at no extra charge.
The new stairs are solid, well-constructed, and a huge improvement. I only wish we had hired him to rebuild the entire deck!
We’ll definitely be reaching out to Jono again for our next project.
Jono is the best, I found him online and feel like I got so lucky. He was quick to respond to my request and we hopped on the phone so I told him about my vision for a booth and bench I wanted to build. He immediately understood the assignment, made some suggestions, gave me a quote and was ready to get to work.He was able to finish the project quickly and was super accommodating at his shop down in Carson City when I needed to pick it up. He stayed at the shop until 8pm when I could get down there to pick up the finished product. I will definitely be working with him again.
Thank you, Chase, it was truly a pleasure working with you! You made my job very easy, and I can’t wait to work with you again!

Jono is incredibly talented at turning ideas into real products. He’s creative, detail-oriented, and has been a huge part of our company’s product design and patent work. If you’re looking for someone who can invent, design, and actually build, he’s the real deal!

I asked Jono to create an aluminum frame to go around our fireplace so we could mount the TV. He did an excellent job fabricating the frame and have it finished. We'd happy use him again and have already recommended him to our neighbours. Give him a call!

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My hourly rate is $100-$250 per hr depending on the complexity of the skill I’m putting to use, but for most jobs on Thumbtack, I’m in the $90-$100 range.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I need to help you understand what you want and what is possible within the confines of physics and your budget. All I need is a kernel of an idea, and I will visualize it for you, and explain every detail until you are satisfied. Then I will create something beyond your expectations.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I started in the trades as a teen. After a world class Architecture education at Sci-Arc, I returned to the field to get more hands-on experience in building structures and massive art projects at Burning Man, at Art and Music festivals cost to coast and overseas. I possess a deep passion for creating with my hands and continually discovering innovative techniques. I consider myself both an artist and a builder, embodying the original definition of "architect" as a master builder. My career has been dedicated to honing my craft and becoming an expert in the art of construction, and the construction of art.
