What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The prices I charge for my work are competitive. Other companies are bigger and therefore have more employees and bills to pay. I usually work alone for smaller jobs and with up to four employees when handling larger projects. It may take me a day or two longer to finish the job but I guarantee a lower price and equal if not greater quality of work than my larger competitors.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The first step is to look at the client's project in person so I can have a better understanding of what needs to be done. I offer free evaluation and quote. This is the time for clients to ask questions or for advice on their projects. After the evaluation I provide the client with a job proposal that has the price, number of days to complete, description of the job, and how payments should be made (usually just enough to cover materials to start). If client accepts the proposal we set a start date and a tentative completion date.
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I recently did a job at my own home. I poured concrete to extend my driveway, a patio in the backyard, and along the side of the house between a block wall and my home. This is usually the type of work that I do. This job took two days, One day for grading and setting up forms and the second day for pouring and finishing concrete. Most concrete jobs can be done in an average of 2 days time.
I also get a lot of calls for a block-wall repair. Depending on how much demolition and removal needs to be done before I start building the wall, it usually takes about two or three days to complete. New block walls take the longest because they require a footing to be inspected/poured the day before I start laying the cinder block. With all my jobs my objective is to finish them as quickly and efficiently as possible without compromising the quality of my work.
