FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I make a conscious effort to keep my fees very competitive——not only to serve as higher incentive to secure my services, but also with the acknowledgement that I am currently still 'breaking in' to the industry and am primarily concerned with carving a name for myself going forward, over a more lucrative payday per gig/contract.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
My goal is to have the client feel at ease as close to right out of the gate as is humanly possible. With each wedding I do, I like to ask the brides, personally, what specific mishaps in particular would be nightmares to them personally (because you *know* they've thought about it——at length, most likely!) I've always preferred to be prepared for feasibly any possible contingency, even from the beginning of my career. (one example: when I would DJ at the Gentleman's Clubs——typically there is always a built-in 'house computer' setup... despite the fact that I have always chosen to perform on my own equipment with my own, trusted song files from my library, I will still always bring one of my [current and up-to-date] backup external drives and have it hooked in to the house computer; so in the unlikely event that my personal laptop catches fire, causing the music to die suddently--I can jump on mic, launch into a cheeky bit for 30 seconds or so while cue'ing up whatever song was last playing, to make the transition more seamless and all-over less awkward for all involved. I avoid dead air like the plague!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
(Classiclally generic expression notwithstanding)——Music has always been a mainstay in my life from as far back as I can remember. My parents' collective musical tastes formed an already eclectic starting point; which only expanded further as I grew older. I picked up the guitar at the age of 12 and first began DJ'ing around 18. I've giggled in cover bands in the SF bay area doing corporate gigs and I've DJ'ed the Club & Casino circuit here in Reno, select venues in South Lake Tahoe as well as back in San Francisco. My various and current weekly residencies in Reno all vary in terms of the music that's preferred; which makes me stay on top of music trends on a weekly basis.
