Powerhouse provides value for the work performed, and they are flexible. Originally, we were going to refinish the floors in four rooms, but we discovered that we were happier with having one room refinished, and the other three rooms carpeted. The company was able to accommodate our desires. We dealt with nine different people associated with Powerhouse including people who analyzed the ability to * Remove squeaks without damaging underlying hardwood floors (not possible); * Floor refinisher; * Molding installers; * Estimate carpeting size; * Minimize the amount of carpeting to select; * Selecting the carpet that best fit our needs; * Purchasing carpet and padding (different vendors); * Carpet installation; * Cleaning; and * Moving heavy furniture, as needed. There were little things that needed to be adjusted, and Michael oversaw different crews who worked with us to make the required adjustments. Personnel were courteous, knew their business, kept appointments, and did neat work. Prices were reasonable. We will use them again. The following is not related to Powerhouse, but are two hints that may be useful to you: 1. If you refinish your floors, there is considerable smell from the varnish. If you leave wet coffee grounds in the room, and baking soda in a separate dish, it will help to absorb the smell. 2. I painted one of the rooms myself, and I found that using the new high-quality 3/8" nap rollers did not work as well as using Purdy rollers.
It all started when I had a bit of an "accident" knocking the ceiling of my apartment with a broomstick to get some noisy neighbors upstairs to quiet down their 24-hour Riverdance sessions. ...Let's just say that popcorn ceilings are nearly as cheap as actual popcorn. I connected with Jerry Wayne through Thumbtack and we agreed to a repair service on March 9. Having no materials on hand or repair knowledge, Jerry bought some supplies at Home Depot and returned to my apartment to repair my ceiling boo-boos. The repair job took about two and a half hours, including time allowed for the "popcorn" stuff to dry. Overall, Jerry's handiwork was outstanding and I can hardly even tell I nuked the ceiling! Fantastic job and efficiently done, highly recommend this handiman to take care of those times you vent on your ceiling when your upstairs neighbors' escapades get out of hand. :) -Bryan
We recently remodeled our home, and with antiques dating back to when my husbands family migrated here from Denmark four generations ago we did quite a bit of research on moving companies. My husband called Bob and set a date and time to come move the antiques to the garage. They were here at the exact time, with proper equipment and packing blankets to move the heavy pieces. We can't say enough good about how well Bob's company handled moving our antiques! Once the remodel was complete they came back and moved everything right back in for us with the same care and respect they showed the first time! I must say, we asked for and received quotes from large companies but, we don't think they could have done a better job moving our beloved family treasures. Bob is a pleasure to work with and if we ever need help again, we're calling Above The Rim. You won't go wrong if you decide to use this little company. They might be small but, they're mighty! Thank you so much Bob!
work hasn't been completed yet but I am extremely pleased so far with the degree that Scott ahs been helpful in working with us on getting the best results for our project.
We hired Alan to fix-up and repair several things on our home in preparation for placing our home on the market. He power-washed and painted the trim on the exterior, repaired a dooorknob, a toilet, repainted our master bath and treated the mold we had, and repaired linoleum. He completed the work in a timely matter, the work is very well done, & his fees were very reasonable. He offered advice based on his experience and looked for ways to save us money. If anything else comes up we will definitely hire Alan again.
Ken, from Get Your To-Do List Done, has done several home projects for me, including new closet shelving, new doors, new trim work, fence repair and furniture assembly. He has also replaced my furnace filter and smoke detector batteries. He is very dependable, honest, fair and I'm always pleased with the quality of his work!
Chris assembled a storage shed an did a great job. As we opened one of the boxes, he notice there was damage to the upper wall. He said he could assemble it without it affecting the structure. And he did. The only thing that could have been better was the weather - he had to assemble it in 95 degree heat! A. Britt, Carson City
I hired services done rite to tear out some old carpeting and install pergo flooring throughout the downstairs of my house, i was impressed to see how skillfully he layed it under my existing trim, rather than the original hired installer who actually cut into my trim around the door frame to make it fit. Cj was fast, professional and gave me a great price, a fraction of what the original contractor wanted. I will definitely use services done rite again!
