Introduction: Rational Therapy and Recovery, Inc. is my private practice. I incorporated for the tax and business benefits and because in Nevada, it was easy to do.
I have a master's degree in psychology, and I am licensed as a marriage and family therapist and as a substance abuse therapist with over 20 years of experience.
I have two adjoining office spaces. One office has a couch, arm chairs, and business chairs, which I use as a therapy room. The other office has a desk, credit card machine, computer, projector, printer, file cabinet, and eight client chairs for the educational room.
I see individuals and couples. I see individuals for general mental health issues of anxiety, depression, problem solving, planning, and substance abuse. I am primarily a cognitive behavioral therapist. I am known in the community as a therapist who does not talk about 12 Steps and who helps you defend your first amendment rights of freedom of religion when standing up to the court's 12-Step sentencing.
I provide couples therapy influenced by the Gottman Institute and provide video-taped, semi-structured assessment and intervention. I provide therapy for decreasing alcohol use for those who are not seeking abstinence. I have a DUI school licensed by the DMV and see clients who choose me off the court list.
I am part of the Reno Municipal Courts BASIC/CASIC program, working with first-time alcohol and marijuana offenders between the ages of 18 and 24. I keep my case load to 20 hours a week or less.
Every session, you have the opportunity to assess my work and provide me a written feedback in four areas of my service delivery to you: relationship, goals and topics, approach or method, and overall.
