Working with Carl has been fantastic! Carl's responsiveness, follow through, quality and quantity of work has been outstanding. Interior and exterior work ranging from cosmetic repair, plumbing repair, exterior design and construction. I am very happy to have found Carl!
Aardwolf's person arrived as promised, cleaned our translucent patio roof, removing the old and ineffective caulk, and then ran caulk throughout, while also applying fasteners to ensure that the roof was completely secure in high winds. Aardwolf's workman was knowledgeble, thorough, and left the place pristine. We were completely pleased and would recommend Aardwolf for any job similar to ours.
Prior to putting our home on the market, we needed quite a bit of fix-it work and interior painting in all 11 rooms in our 163-year-old house in Pittsfield. From the moment Jim stepped through the front door, we were impressed not only with his professionalism, but with his taking the time to explain exactly how he would go about each fix-it project. The quote came and was more than fair for the amount of work involved. Jim was thorough and meticulous in the execution of each project and was flexible and accommodating when many of the projects uncovered more work that needed to be done or when we added additional projects. He never lost his sense of humor and he never gave up on us. In one month, he totally transformed our home from tired and worn to fresh and beautiful. He did such an amazing job, that the house sold in just 18 days. Jim's work ethic is remarkable, especially for the Berkshires. We can't think of anyone else we've worked with over the years who would not have abandoned the project at some point along the way. He really pulled through for us when three days before the first open house, he uncovered a soaking wet, rotted sub-floor in one of our bathrooms. He put his head down, worked round the clock to fix it, and installed beautiful new flooring. We are so incredibly grateful to Jim (and Heather, too, who made the house sparkle -- and miraculously got rid of a stubborn bathtub rust ring that had been there for years!) We would hire Precision Home Care in a heartbeat at any time for any project and highly recommend that you do too!!
Steve Dahlin has worked for and alongside my spouse and I for more than ten years in many facets of restoration and renovation of our historic property, such as carpentry, siding installation, painting, repairing and restoring historic floors and thresholds, windows, and exterior and interior historic moldings. The projects we've worked on together have focused on jobs both small and large on the renovation of our two-hundred-year-old historic house and barn. Steve has brought his expertise and long experience to solving the often sticky problems that emerge when restoring, preserving, renovating, and replicating historic features. One project particularly stands out: We had found an original, historic window in terrible disrepair and deterioration that we wanted to restore and put back into its original location. Every other contractor, window supplier, etc., that we spoke to told us that the window was beyond repair and that we should discard it and purchase a new one. Steve, however, took on the job and did a fabulous job of restoring the window to not only its former beauty but also its functionality. Steve impresses us with his willingness to come out and help us even when the jobs are very small. Steve has recently worked with us on repairing our historic barn, and we've been very pleased with the result.
Erik agreed to take on a huge job--painting the interior of an entire house, refinishing the floors, and taking care of a long list of repairs that were needed to get the house ready for a tenant. He was completely reliable, had very high standards, brought in wonderful people to help him, and got the job done beautifully and on time. He is also a very kind person, who anyone would enjoy working with. Highly recommended!
I'll summarize this by saying this was the best experience I have ever had working with a contractor, and Capital Contractors will have my business for any project moving forward. My project was to have a pallet wall installed behind a bar area in my finished basement/man cave. That idea grew to also installing pallet wood around an island, and behind a dart board down there as well. I received several responses over Thumbtack and seriously considered three of the companies. While the estimates were all reasonable, my decision to go with Capital Contractors came down to the obvious pride A.J. McDonald and his partner Kris took in their work. They were passionate and excited as we talked through my vision, and were open completing the job however I wanted. They were true to their word in their attention to detail. Their craftsmanship was second to none, and they left a spotless work area. To top it off A.J. and Kris seem like legitimate and sincere good guys - very likable and trustworthy. Long story short, from the estimate through the completed project, Capital Contractors exceeded my expectations at every turn. I am offering my highest recommendation to family, friends, and anyone reading this. Normally I use Thumbtack to find multiple estimates for a given job, but in this case I found THE company I will be hiring for any project I need done moving forward.
These guys are great! We asked them to renovate our kitchen, including replacing the sub-floor and joists which were rotted and removing a wall; they did a fantastic job at a very reasonable price. Tony is very experienced and easy to work with and will work within your budget - they do everything from redecoration to detailed and ornate carpentry to full structural repairs, and the quality of work and finish is excellent. They were so good we've told them to carry on and do the rest of the house!
Adam removed a ceiling from my old kitchen. This revealed hand hewn beams ( from 1850 ). Then he installed beautiful hand painted tin between the beams. He also made the corner trim to finish the look. A huge improvement to make a kitchen fit the period in which the house was built. Adam also recommended an over the stove microwave .This was a great idea to make more room on the counter. In addition we took out the small window & installed a 4 foot garden window. I am thrilled with the result.
We hired Bill to take out an old wall air conditioner and reframe/reside the outside of the home. He was able to give us an accurate quote prior to the job and arrived on time to complete the job. He was professional and courteous, cleaning up the area in the home after the job was completed. Good pricing and great quality of work. He was very knowledgeable about the project and even gave us some advice for other ways we could improve the room. We would hire Bill again for other projects around the house.
Scott, removed wallpaper glue, patched plaster, skim coated and sanded my kitchen walls before he painted them and the ceiling. He was very conscientious, personable and reliable as well as reasonably priced. He probably needed more time but knew we were on a schedule.
I am a very satisfied client! Ben and his crew treated my family and my home with the highest level of professionalism and surpassed all our expectations. They removed 1200 sq ft of popcorn ceilings, not to mention it was 20 feet vaulted cathedral ceilings . They painted it using my custom color palate. I had recessed lighting installed , crown molding , base molding, new closet doors installed, as well wall paneling installed . I already have Ben lined up for a summer project and I already passed his business cards to my family and friends and co workers. If you want professional and efficient work done at a reasonable cost , Ben is the right man for the job!
Work was done on time as promised. Job site left cleaned up better than the start.
Mr. Turner repaired 6-7 holes in my walls. His work was excellent. He went above and beyond what I'd expected him to do. He fixed a couple of holes I didn't point out to him (I didn't think he'd have time to do them; I wanted to make sure that the big holes were fixed.) He worked a little "overtime" to complete the job, but didn't charge me extra for his time. The work was excellent, and he offered to come back if it needed "touching up"; which it didn't. I'm very pleased with the work, and I'd hire Mr. Turner again in a minute.
Matt completed two different projects for us. First he built a retaining wall in front of our house after removing five VERY large coniferous bushes. Matt and his co-worker arrived on time and completed the work in one weekend. The work was completed when he promised it would be . just as he described for a reasonable price, and the cleanup after the job was first-rate. Matt was helpful and very knowledgeable about what type of plantings would thrive in the space; the planting he suggested bloom throughout the spring and summer. What impressed us most was how meticulous Matts attention to detail was in cutting the stones and then laying the stones level. I continue to receive compliments from my neighbors about my front retaining wall. The second project we hired Matt for was cutting a flowerbed out behind the house along our deck. Matt arrived on a hot, humid day. He had the new beds evenly cut out and planted by the end of the day. Overall, Matts service surpassed our expectations, we couldn't be happier with the results.
High quality interior painting. Ed and his crew pay attention to details and often checked in with me about how the job looked. Very easy to communicate with. They listened and finished the job to my satisfaction. I would definitely call Hathaway Contracting again and will recommend him to my friends.
