About
Our work stands out from other companies because we are very detail-oriented and always communicate with our customers whether it is through e-mail, telephone, or even texting. We treat each job as if we were working on our own homes and not as just another job. The completed look of the property, as seen by the neighbors, friends, family, and those just passing by, is the most important aspect of any job. However, durability and a job that will last, are just as important, too! I am proud of the work we do here at Parkview and each member of the company is also proud of being part of this great team. As the owner, I enjoy the creative control I have over most projects and seeing a property owner's reaction when the come home and see what they have been wanting done for quite some time, completed by the time they are finished with work. I love being able to work outside with my hands in the fresh air and meet lots of great people along the way. There is something to be said about building, creating and reforming an idea or a concept into a tangible project that will be seen by all and enjoyed by the customer.

I couldn't be more pleased with the spring clean up done by Parkview Landscaping. They removed all the dead plants, leaves and branches even in areas that have gravel/bushes/pool filter.

Jarrett is a very personable guy and at the same time professional. His quotes were equivalent or better the others. I dislike rating someone premturely but I'm very pleased this far and with Jarrett's overall knowledge. He has cut my lawn and fertilized once thus far. This week they are going to clean out an area full of brush and weeds, edge it and mulch it. I'll provide a further update once that job is complete and after my second cut.

Jarrett was courteous and called to confirm time prior to arriving. He took everything away as requested and I would hire him again.

I am truly impressed with Jarrett and his work ethic. Sometimes it's just worth a couple rounds of "phone tag" to get great service! I set out looking for a fall yard clean up and got a whole lot more! I now have yard care at a more then reasonable price and a "go to guy" for other home improvement projects. Jarrett will be working for me for a long time!

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I started a landscaping company to help put myself through college when I was 18. I started out with a station wagon, wheel barrow and a couple of rakes. The company grew as I made my way through college as I finished with a pickup truck and a sizable cache of tools. After graduating with a business and English degree I went on to be a newspaper reporter for several publications around the Capital Region for the next seven years. I kept the landscaping company as a side business and truly enjoyed my time outside working with my hands. As much as I loved being a reporter, I eventually tired of the long and late hours, as well as the pittance of a salary, and decided to switch things up and return to running a landscaping business full-time and write part-time. I am still a freelance writer to this day for a couple of area publications, but love being able to work outside and make my own schedule.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

The most common types of jobs for Parkview Landscaping and Home Improvement involve basic property maintenance but also include specialty hardscape designs, such as retaining walls, walkways, and brick work. We do various outdoor work such as planting, mowing, mulching, fertilizing, weeding, topsoil delivery, tree and shrub trimming, as well as light remodeling and construction projects like painting and building large planter boxes and arbors. In addition to these services we also do foundation work such as waterproofing and resurfacing.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

My main advice is to make sure they have insurance above all else and try to talk to them in person (or at the very least on the phone) before committing to a major project. You can tell a lot about a person -- how they carry themselves, how professional they are, and many other personal characteristics -- from a quick conversation. This will put you at ease and let you know they are trustworthy or at least personable ... especially if this person is going to be working at your home for any length of time.
