So I recently moved in to my apartment and I needed a quick assembly job, which were assembling my curtain rods, bed set and dresser. I reached out to many handyman but decena Electrical services was the first one to respond. On their profile it literally says $80 an hour. So in my mind I’m not asking for too much this should take like 3 hours the most. So we agree to meet at 3.The men who did the job was an elderly Latino descended man. He was kind and respectful, but he moved very slow. It took him from 3PM-6:30PM just to set up some curtains. So after he was done he asked if it was okay for him to finish the bed and dresser tomorrow morning, I said I don’t mind but how much is the price ,he told me that I wouldn’t have to worry about the price , so I honestly took his word because of how respectful he was. So comes back tomorrow at 10AM. He finally finishes my bed set and dresser at 4PM. So I ask him for the price, he tells me it’s $890. At first I thought I was hearing things but I was wrong. So I wasn’t trying to be disrespectful and seemed upset because I’m black and people already have this stereotype about us, and I ask him respectfully how are you going to charge me that price for something that took you 10 hours to do. This was literally suppose to take him 3 hours . Then he try to tell me that he was actually suppose to charge me more. Honestly I should’ve held my ground because the most he should’ve got paid was $240, $200 because he really moves slow but I wasn’t trying to make it a big deal but that shit really pissed me. I paid him but anybody reading this learn from my mistake. if you’re gonna hire Decena Electric service for the job, make sure you definitely talk about prices.
