Alex Dull is a fabulous carpenter-- careful and precise. Alex is installing replacement beams supporting the front overhang of our ranch house. The beams are placed in metal stands affixed to a cement base. Alex measures every facet, recording the dimensions and consistently checking with the carpenter's level for an even plane and perpendicular position. Alex explains every aspect of the work while in progress. He is a true artisan who considers the aesthetic and structural components of every job. Alex holds great carpentry skills. I asked him to create a big fake wooden wall to block a window in the room for my art show. He made it creaseless. I was so impressed that he was problem solving everything so quickly.

Alex is engineer + carpenter, he spent good amount of time to figures out the right measurements for this wardrobe, once he was fully satisfied, he made sure that I approve his design and then he turn it around really nicely. Very very clean, beautiful artistic work..

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Every job is different, and therefore every job will cost a different amount for labor and materials. I am very up front with my clients on the cost of everything, and I charge for labor and materials separately. I feel this gives more transparency for the total project, and I always provide receipts for reimbursable project materials, which primarily consists of wood, specific hardware, paint, etc.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to get as much information and details about their project as possible. Photos are extremely helpful, so I can really see what's going on and asses the job more thoroughly. I message back and fourth with the client to go over exactly what they need done so I can both plan accordingly, and write up a price and outline of the project that works for myself and the client.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I first learned to use a saw when I was 10 years old, and have been doing Carpentry work ever since. My grandfather and father were both carpenters and taught me a lot growing up. I've worked for myself and other contractors for the last 12 years or so, as well as for a company in the city fabricating custom items for a museum, and doing basic repair work.
