Introduction: Proud sole proprietor of "Chick with a Leash since 2015. I am bonded as well as insured. Fortunately, my dad who is a veterinarian, has given me the opportunity to observe him provide care and treatment to his many clients beloved family pets. My specialty is private dog walks. It gives me the opportunity to focus all my attention on your fur baby! Finally, I am doing what I love most ----- spending my time with dogs and cats. I ask you, what could be better than that!

I have a pit, who pulls, and can get aggressive towards other dogs on the leash. So to say that I was weary with dog walkers was an understatement. I’m super protective of him and know that it takes a certain type of person to walk him. In comes Sam. When I say that she takes care of my dog like he was hers is an understatement. She loves him to pieces, and he loves her just as much. I trust her wholeheartedly to take care of him even though I know he’s a lot. She’s strict with him, but in the best possible way, she set boundaries with him and he listens- and he doesn’t listen to everyone. There’s been times when I’ve texted her about dog problems not related to walking and she’s been insanely helpful, she always gets back to you quickly and always willing to lend a hand. The bottom line is you’d be remiss to not trust her with your dog- she’s the best thing that’s happened to us.

Sam is absolutely fantastic. She takes amazing care of our dog Shufti as if he were her own. Sam is the only person we trust to take care of our dog. She walks him by himself and always make sure that he is safe. She is always on time and is constantly updating us on how he is doing. She also helps us to take care of him overnight when we travel. Our dog loves Sam and is always thrilled to see her! We are so lucky that we have someone like Sam to take care of our dog- she also makes sure he is fed and comfortable. Thank you Sam for all that you do for our precious, Shufti!

Sam is a godsend! She treats our dog like her own and he loves going on walks with her. She is so careful to keep him safe and we trust her to take great care of him. She responds quickly and is always happy to help when we’re in a pinch.

Sam is amazing, she has been walking my dog, Georgie, for three years now. She is very responsive and is flexible and able to help out if you might need a walk outside of your usual walking schedule. My favorite story about Sam is that one day I had food poisoning and I asked her if she could take Georgie out for an emergency walk, she comes over, I crawl back in bed and still hear talking, so I check to see if everything is ok. Sam then explains to me that Georgie doesn’t usually want to go out right away, so they hold “meetings” where Sam sits on the floor with Georgie and they discuss the day and talk about how my cat needs a job because she does nothing and sleeps all day, and then they go out for Georgie’s walk. All in all, Sam is very attentive to the needs and preferences of your pup (or cat), she is responsible and loves the animals that she takes care of as if they were her own.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I speak with the client prior to meeting. I then set up a meet and greet. It's important that the client and the pet are comfortable with me. Sometimes, it takes more than one meeting with some pets.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I had a career in fashion for 30 years. I have lived with dogs my entire life. I could not go through life without owning a dog! My dad is a veterinarian, and it made sense that I went into the dog business.
