My journey has been fun and exciting. I was born in Peru, studied in Spain, played with bands around Europe and then moved to USA where I graduated from Berklee College of Music (Summa Cum Laude) as an scholarship student. Now in NYC, I've been working as a drummer and teacher since 2012. Still, my teaching experience comes from way back (when I was still in Peru) getting my first private students and subbing for my teachers at my music school.
Teaching drums has always been an integral part of my musical life and all of that knowledge throughout those years is what I offer. I feel patience, flexibility and communication are really important to have a good student/teacher relationship. It doesn't matter your level or age, I'm sure I'll be helpful in your journey as a drummer. Just hit me up! I offer a trial lesson for a discounted rate!
It's hard to not have fun when playing drums!!! Still, I think that most fulfilling part is to see the students' growth throughout the lessons, especially when they get to finally express themselves behind a drum kit.

David was super responsive for us to book our trial lesson, we did it the day after we got in touch, and it was so good! It just changed my day for the better and I immediately decided to continue taking lessons with him. He is an amazing drummer and teacher, I feel he tailors the class for what I want to do but keeps me in line to develop skills that I lack in order to progress. David has prepared a study material for every topic and skill level, which keeps me motivated to do my homework in addition to working on a song. If you check his Instagram, he posts so many licks and exercises - it is such a valuable resource too. From that you can tell how David is not only a wonderful drummer but also person, willing to share his knowledge with everyone. I couldn't recommend him more!

I would recommend you to have drumlessons with David. I came for my first lesson being a complete beginner, and now after several classes I already can play a song!
Also, it is important for me that David can answer my questions about drums and explain many thing I am curious about, which helps not only to play, but also to know the world of drums better.

I was only able to attend one session with David because of my own time constraints, but he was great! He was able to assess my skill level and plan the lesson accordingly, and was super nice while doing it! He was also obviously a very talented drummer and teacher. I'd highly recommend.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I offer a discounted first lesson so you can see if we are a good fit! If you decide to go on with the lessons you can pay by the hour or buy packs of 4 lessons (for a discounted rate too!)
Lessons online are also available!
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Communication is key because every person is different. It's really important to know the student's experience, musical taste, expectations (if any) and goals (if any), so we can work on a plan that will suit him/her best and find the best approach to make the lessons as efficient and fulfilling as possible!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have over 15 years of experience teaching both privately and through schools. I've also studied in Spain (Barcelona - L'aula de musics) and graduated from Berklee College of Music in Boston (Summa Cum Laude) as a scholarship student. Currently I've been working as a professional drummer and teaching in the NYC for the past 8 years. It's been a great experience so far!
