Introduction: I am a writer-editor who can make any piece of copy sing, whether financial, legal or medical; feature news or hard news. I have over two decades experience proofing and editing stock purchase agreements, bond rating sheets, quarterly reports, and more for Clifford Chance, Lazard, Davis Polk, Sullivan & Cromwell; for Debevoise, O'Melveny, Credit Suisse, and dozens of other law firms and investment banks centered in Manhattan, in other words, the largest law firms and investment banks in the world. As more foreign firms do business in the U.S., the need for sensitive, accurate editing becomes more acute. I've edited (and sometimes have almost re-written!) every kind of document, from punchy hard news pieces, to grant proposals to feature stories, to film reviews; I have briefed many legal cases, as well. My experience has made me extremely attentive to structure and detail and to the author's original intent. It's important to know how to do full reads, cold reads, black and redlining; line editing and copy editing, but the key is empathy. My experience has made me an empathetic editor: the writer's dignity and vision must be preserved. I've edited some books, a few screenplays, many articles, and I read and edit legal citations, as well. Worked also at SciMed, editing and proofreading material for the medical and pharmaceutical industries. Additionally, I've written and edited pieces for Total TV, the Cable Guide and Riot Media. I have written over 100 stories published in magazines nationwide, and I was a copy editor briefly (temp assignment) for Gentlemen's Quarterly. I've also written seven books, published by Lulu and Amazon. Have an M.S. from Columbia University, Graduate School of Journalism, and a J.D. from University at Buffalo, School of Law.
