Guitar Lessons

We’ve been having Jeremy teach my son electric guitar, and it has been going really well. He’s always on time and quick to respond if I need to change a lesson time. I look forward to an ongoing guitar relationship.

Guitar Lessons

Jeremy was my daughter’s guitar teacher during the last two years of high school. He is a great teacher with deep music theory knowledge. Jeremy is great in tailoring his lessons to meet the students’ styles and interests. There has been times where he actually learned songs that my daughter liked and created arrangements just to teach her. As a result, she has developed a passion in guitar playing that will likely lasts her lifetime. She rarely goes anywhere without her guitar now. I would highly recommend Jeremy as a guitar teacher whatever your style or level. If you don’t like playing guitar after having lessons with him, the instrument is probably not meant for you!

I've been playing guitar on and off for many years, and have tried a number of teachers, but I always come back to the same thing- I get a pile of instructions and scales from someone and I look at the guitar and decide I don't want to play it. This all changed after I met Jeremy- he knew exactly how to make me excited to pick up the instrument. I'm still not exactly sure how he did it, but since I started with him I can't wait to get to my guitar. He has a method he uses where he finds ways to make practicing fun, or at least have immediate results. A truly excellent teacher A+++.

Jeremy has been teaching my daughter for 2 years. She started as a beginner at age 8, and now she is playing and singing her favorite songs, learning Beatles songs, and even wrote a song of her own recently. He was able to bring out this creativity and nurture her talent from scratch, it has been amazing to watch. He also sets up a few performances a year for all the kids he teaches and their parents and friends, this way the kids have something to work towards, and these are fun shows that we all look forward to. I can't say enough about how grateful we are to him for being such a great teacher, and can't recommend him enough.

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I charge around 50-70 an hour depending on where the student is located (I factor in my travel and time). This is negotiable.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I start by getting to the heart of what is inspiring the student to take lessons in the first place. I ask about what music they love, what artists, songs, styles, etc., have led them to want to do it themselves. I then evaluate their ability and skill level and design a lesson plan (specialized for each student). Usually what happens is that we talk through/ listen through a few songs/ artists until we find a something that we both connect with and is the right level of difficulty.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have been teaching music for almost as long as I have been playing it, and am comfortable teaching beginners and advanced students alike. I also have a B.F.A. from The New School University (Mannes School of Jazz and Contemporary Music division). I also have been a successful songwriter and performer for the past ten years, performing at the national level at such venues as Bonnaroo Music Festival, Telluride, and Gathering of the Vibes to name a few.
