FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Our pricing is exceedingly simple. For event work, we have an hourly rate that includes individual retouching of every image, captioning of images, and delivery via both online galleries and DVDs. For work in the NY metro area, the only additional charges are for transportation, and we specify all costs up-front in an itemized estimate. We do not nickel-and-dime clients with charges for retouching, delivery, online galleries, etc. Whereas some studios rely on extra charges to boost profits, we have decided to keep pricing as simple as possible in order to make planning easy for our clients.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Ask for referrals. Talking with past clients is the best way to ensure that you'll get the results you deserve. Talk with the provider to make sure they specialize in the type of work you need done. You'll usually get better results from a specialist than from a generalist. Ask the provider about backups for critical equipment and staff to make sure your job will get done even in the event of equipment failure or unexpected staff unavailability. Request a detailed estimate of all costs. This will help you avoid gotchas like unforeseen add-ons for transportation, delivery and retouching. If you're representing a tax-exempt nonprofit, you can avoid paying sales tax by giving the provider a copy of your organization's certificate of tax-exempt status.
