About
Science has proven that all humans posses the ability to be musical and learn to play an instrument regardless of talent. I am a strong believer that all children can benefit from music lessons and always try to tailor the lesson to each student's individual needs. Whether you want to play for fun or pursue music professionally I can adapt and change the lesson to accommodate my students. I am extremely patient and I have extensive training on how to work with children.
Unlike most piano instructors I have extensive training and knowledge in piano pedagogy which gives me the necessary skills to communicate complex ideas to young minds. I hold a Bachelors in Music Education from Brooklyn College and currently working on Masters in Music Education (M.M.E in Choral Pedagogy) from Westminster Choir College. I don't believe that one size fits all therefore I do not use a particular method of teaching piano because each child is different therefore I adapt to the uniqueness of the individual.
I consider myself as a facilitator that enables students to find the musically that already exists inside of them.
Being a teacher is one of the hardest and most demanding jobs in this world, but it happens to be the most rewarding. Seeing the transformation of a child of any level and seeing the confidence and satisfaction that only can be felt when making music is one of the best things about this job.

All three of my kids really enjoyed their lessons with Alkistis, who worked around our schedules, suggested great books for their age and inspired them to practice. I was impressed how much they learned and how much they enjoyed learning piano with her!

Alkistis has been teaching my 6 and 8 year old girls piano since November 2017. My girls are so excited before each session and look forward to learning from her. Alkistis is sweet, patient and yet very professional when she teaches. I did a lot of research before choosing a piano teacher that would come to my house and was afraid that my girls would not adhere to just anyone. I have to say that I am incredibly happy with my choice and am certain that anyone who hires her will have the same experience.

Alkistis is pretty, patient, professional, experienced, helpful and encouraging. I can't express my appreciation to her using words. I was a little picky in terms of choosing a piano tutor because I had some training experience before and knew how to tell a good tutor. She is great at encouraging and educating the students. She is super responsive and always there ready for any support you need. It was a pity that I had to leave NYC due to some personal issue. I really hope that I could spend more and more time being trained by Alkistis! Highly recommend for both adults and kids!

She is very professional, the way she teaches the class is very good, and she has a very good personality, so my daughter always has a good time in her class. She is very flexible with our schedules, which is a huge help to me.

I cannot speak highly enough of Alkistis. I attribute my son's love of piano, and music in general, entirely to her instruction. She is incredibly patient, supportive and enthusiastic, but she also encourages her students to push themselves to try new and more difficult pieces. She pays close attention to developing technical skills while also helping her students to uncover the emotion of each piece. She is highly attuned to the needs of individual students, and allows them to follow their musical interests. I also very much appreciate Alkistis's diligence in arranging regular recitals so that her students can gain much-needed experience in performing, which has been invaluable in building my son's confidence. Alkistis is always punctual and accommodating of schedule changes. My son absolutely adores her and looks forward to every lesson, as do I.
