I have over 10 years of experience teaching drums, percussion, and piano to both children and adults. I’m a professional percussionist and improvising musician, and I love sharing music with students of all levels. My lessons are organized and thoughtfully planned, but I always keep them flexible so they can meet each student’s interests, pace, and individual needs. I try to create a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable exploring music while building a strong foundation. Having fun and staying curious are very important parts of learning, and I always aim to make lessons both enjoyable and meaningful. I’m patient and attentive, and I work closely with each student to make sure they feel confident and happy in their progress. I’m also a native Japanese speaker, so I’m happy to offer lessons fully in Japanese for students who prefer learning in Japanese.

I feel so lucky to have Nava as my 8 year-old’s piano teacher. Nava was fun, extremely approachable, and supportive. After that Nava helped her write her own music and play music, too. This flexibility kept my daughter interested. Nava was a true gem for our daughter when she started taking piano lessons at age 6. Nava always showed great patience in working with our daughter, especially after we went to online classes during the pandemic. But most importantly, she made piano fun and nurtured our daughter’s natural instincts and joy for music and learning. To help with online learning, Nava often sent video recordings of new songs, which our daughter loved and exemplified for us the care and attentiveness she shows her students.
