Sarah is patient and extremely knowledgeable. She has helped me with technique as well as a practical way to understand the theory. I highly recommend her to anyone looking to learn piano.Sep 10, 2020Verified
I loved my lessons with Sarah!! She is so attentive to what I want to get out of the lessons. In addition, she’s always looking to help me improve my technique and musicality in my playing. She also makes music theory FUN. I never thought I would say that but it’s true. I highly recommend Sarah for anyone wanting to learn music!!Sep 3, 2020
Sarah has been an absolute god send to our family. I take lessons from her as well as both my children. She is an incredible pianist and puts so much effort into customizing lessons for each of us, AND keeping the kids engaged, laughing, and inspired over Zoom. I'm interested in blues and ragtime music, one of my children in classical, and the other just wants to play pop music. She is a master in all these styles, and is able to teach theory and technique concepts through music we love. In addition to being an absolute dream of a teacher, she is also super organized, responsive, understanding, and nice. We couldn't recommend her more highly - thank you SARAH for being the highlight of our week.Sep 3, 2020
Sarah is an outstanding piano instructor! I take adult lessons with her, and as a teacher myself, I can tell you she knows the right balance of how much to help you and how much to let you figure out on your own. She also tailors your lessons to you based on what you need more time on/when to progress, and what you like to play. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Sep 8, 2020
Sarah is an excellent instructor; experienced, versatile, concise, and with a special grace which makes the lessons so fun.Sep 3, 2020
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Payment is requested before the lesson begins - thank you!
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I always suggest a trial lesson with a new student so that you can see if I am the right fit for you. At our first lesson we'll chat about the music you love and what made you want to start taking lessons. If you've played in the past I'll ask you to play something for me. We'll chat about your goals and I'll make some book/song/piece recommendations from there! If you'd like to keep working together, I'll create a progressive plan for you that incorporates a broad range of music and material.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have a degree in musicology from Boston University and in Piano from Mannes The New School for Music. But a lot of my important education came from less formal sources - whether it was an Appalachian fiddle course from a pro fiddler in NC or gospel piano lessons I took with a pastor in OH. Also, a lot of my education has also just come from playing with a ton of bands and working in the industry (more info on my website if you're interested in that!)
