Introduction: My teaching philosophy is very much that of empathy. I believe that the voice is an extension of a person’s whole being. Stress will find its way into a person’s singing. As an educator, one must be in-tuned with the student’s desires, hopes, fears and anxieties. A good voice instructor navigates these to achieve powerful results with their students which is the standard I hold myself to. First lessons are 20% if you schedule a second lesson at the end.

I've been working with Sam for about 6 months and it's been great! I was really nervous at the beginning but he made me feel very comfortable. I feel that my singing has improved a whole lot and I'm going to keep working with him in the future.

I always look forward to my lessons with Sam! He has so much enthusiasm and patience and it really feels like he cares about my progression. He pushes me to try harder and that has truly helped me to become a better singer. He has amazing knowledge and is able to convey it in a fun, approachable way. Honestly, through my lessons with Sam I have rediscovered my love of singing that I thought I'd lost long ago.

I’ve worked with Sam for a couple years, and he is an excellent musician, performer, and teacher. Super unassuming/humble as well. Highly recommend for any musical booking or lesson!

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

My pricing is negotiable and I offer sliding scale prices depending on the student (college student, unemployed, etc) The first lesson will be discounted 20% if the student signs up for a second lesson at the end.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

During the first lesson with a student, we'll generally spend 10 minutes discussing goals and experience, 20 minutes doing warm-ups and introducing my method, and the rest of our time on repertoire that the student has brought in.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a bachelor's degree in jazz voice, as well as a master’s degree in contemporary improvisation with a minor in music educatio, both degrees are from the New England Conservatory of Music.
