Introduction
Quite simply, we're better at it. I'm an award-winning teacher, and I only hire tutors who have the "touch" of content knowledge, communications skills, and ability to relate to and motivate teenagers. I love working individually with young people and helping them see that they are smart and talented, even if they don't always feel that way. I also like helping them see that big scary things like the SAT aren't really that scary if you are able to break them into smaller component parts, which is a life skill that will be helpful after the standardized tests are done.

The service was professional with the flexibility in the tutoring schedule to accommodate the student/family's schedule. I appreciate the reporting on the students progress and the openness to communicate concerns.

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I regularly engage in professional development, especially with regards to students with special learning needs (a major part of my day job), and what techniques are most effective for helping them achieve their academic potential.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Most commonly, my tutors and I help students prepare for standardized tests, like the SATs or AP tests. This can be anything from an overview of strategies to use on the test to an in-depth granular analysis of question types that the student does well on or struggles with.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Check their credentials, but also talk to their references and take the time to have a conversation with them before you hire them. That way, you can get a sense for who they are, and how they will interact with your child.
