Hello, I am Kutay Karatas. I am the co-owner of Buffalo Chess Association.
I have been playing chess for 20 years and teaching for 8 years. I used to live in Turkey and I managed to win lots of tournaments there. I have been selected for the national youth chess team 2 times. After I moved to Buffalo, I won the Niagara Falls Chess Tournament U2100 section. In addition, I became 3rd in the Marchand Open and won the U2200 section.

Coach is very well versed in chess. He engages my 9 year old well. He is always willing to spend extra time to finish a lesson or a game. He clearly explains every chess strategy in a way my 9 year old can easily understand.
Overall I highly recommend Coach Kutay!

I took several lessons with Kutay, I can't recommend him enough. Kutay is a excellent player and coach and was able to help me improve my play in a couple sessions. Well worth your money and time!

Kutay has been working with my 5-year-old and achieved incredible results after just three lessons. However, my 5-year-old is still a toddler and sometimes does not stick around for the entire lesson. Kutay is a professional and we shift to coaching me. The improvements that he has made in just 90 minutes time with me are incredible. I am looking forward to the heights that both my son and I can make.
