I help singers of all ages and levels demystify their struggles and celebrate their strengths in singing, find more freedom and agility in vocal expression, and to think analytically and calmly about their technique without falling into the paralysis of self-criticism. I design voice lessons in collaboration with each student to meet their long and short-term goals, whether that be to build confidence, apply to a conservatory or university, prepare for a concert or a role in an opera or musical, to gain confidence in every day life, or to have a great time singing karaoke. I teach a variety of styles including classical singing/opera, free-improvisation, jazz, pop, contemporary musical theater/belting, operetta/golden age, and more atypical "extended" vocal techniques. I teach the techniques that will best serve the goals of the student, which depends on their stylistic interests. For my own technic, I draw from somatic movement methods (Alexander, Feldenkrais), ongoing study with specialists in classical and harsh vocal techniques, academic writing on the voice, and watching other voice teachers work with students! I will happily work with any student at any level who is dedicated to making progress, taking risks, and working with me to achieve their goals.See more
