- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Sarah DeMarco is a board-certified music therapist who works with children and adults with various and multiple special needs. Miss DeMarco completed her clinical internship at a Veterans Affairs hospital in the Hudson Valley, where she worked with veterans with dementia, substance abuse, post-traumatic stress, homelessness, mental-health disorders, and other medical illnesses such as congestive heart failure, Parkinson’s disease, and end-of-life (hospice care). Miss DeMarco holds a Master of Science in Music Therapy from SUNY New Paltz and a baccalaureate degree in piano performance and psychology from SUNY Geneseo. At New Paltz, she started and lead a youth group for high-school teens at the local church. At the college, she was president of the Music Therapy Club. She was also a recipient of the Mary Boyle Scholarship and the Gary and Janaki Patrik Music Scholarship. She presented at the Regional and National Music Therapy Conferences on a case study about music therapy and neuroplasticity after brain damage.
