I have been taking lessons with Jose since August and am having such an extraordinary experience that I must compliment him. I was never able to follow and dance with a man--I decided to take up dance after some personal losses, so after enjoying a dance cruise and taking lessons with a half dozen pros and trying group lessons which I kept missing because of work, I realized I'd never learn without intensive private lessons. This was my first thumbtack experience so was not expecting to find the most brilliant dance teacher on the planet, but I did! I'm dancing 3-6 hours a week with Jose for 2-months now, so can attest that Jose is a very special dancer and person. A few highlights of my experience: 1) Teaching skill. As a dance teacher, Jose has extraordary technical expertise and the ability of a truly great teacher to translate that into true, long-lasting advancement of my skills. I'm learning so much more than steps. It's all about becoming grounded in proper form and technique, so that most steps become almost a natural extension of that, with style as the ever present icing on the cake. Jose and a strong and exacting leader but also so kind-hearted and warm that his corrections and adjustments feel inspiring, not critical. He recognizes every accomplishment and makes every lesson a pleasurable experience. 2) Professionalism. Jose is always punctual, always waiting there for me. He confirms with exact location before every lesson. He takes the responsibility very seriously and provides excellent value for my time and expense. 3) Demeanor. Jose is very fun and uniquely warm but also such a courtly gentleman that dancing closely is very comfortable for a female student. He has this outgoing and charming but also even-keeled and kind personality. He manages to be gentle while exacting which is a unique skill for a teacher. He's so patient and supportive that my own frustration when I repeat my most common mistakes (mostly) melts away. Jose is a wonderful dance teacher and as my mom would say, a true "mensch". He's just a delightful person. I know it's more credible if you add a "lesser strength", but I honestly can't extract a single flaw or disappointment from my experience. Jose has instilled such a love of dance in me, I only wish we could do even more lessons each week!

Jose is such a wonderful teacher! My husband and I have learned SO much already and we’ve only had two lessons! He even traveled to our home in Astoria, which was so helpful for us. His energy is infectious and he shares his knowledge in a quick and applicable way. I am so grateful that he requires continued growth and retention. Anyone who gets to work with him will be extremely happy pleased. We always smile our whole way thru the lessons.

Jose is an amazing dancer and teacher!! On our first lesson, he taught three dances and was very patient and helpful as we tripped over each other. By the end of the hour, we were laughing, having fun and "dancing." We look forward to our next lesson!!!!

We were scrambling to find a wedding instructor weeks before our wedding. We found Jose through Thumbtack and did a consultation based off his wonderful reviews. We did a total of five lessons. It was definitely nerve-racking but through his years of experience and patience, we felt more comfortable than when we first came into his studio. I am extremely happy with hiring Jose as my dance instructor. He is an amazing teacher!! His professionalism and work ethnic is superb. His passion for dancing and music makes a student want to dance and learn as much as possible. I have taken a few lessons with him and have learned so much from him. He is very honest and determine to teach you to be the best you can be. I am so happy I hired him and hope to become a professional dancer and keep learning from his dance expertise. Iam a very caring person and love the art of dancing and teaching and I firmly believe that I can teach anyone to dance. there is not such thing as 2 left feet

teaching the basics first and build a solid foundation after that students can learn much faster !
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have extensive trainning in ballroom , latin , jazz , choreography and have taught for many years on cruises around the world
