I had a wonderful time working with Val. I came to her in need of work clothes, amongst some more stylish weekend wear and a few outfits for going out socially. I had lost some weight and desperately needed an update. In just one weekend I already feel so much more confidant about my image. It's unbelievable what a weekend with the right stylist can do. Working with Val is the best gift I could have given myself for the holidays and I cannot wait to see what we get next time. If you're thinking about working with a personal shopper don't hesitate. You won't regret working with Val. She's a gem.Dec 19, 2016VerifiedShop With Val's reply
Hi Linda, Thank you for your kind words. I am so honored I got to be a part of your transformation process. I look forward to helping you rebuild your wardrobe and continuing to guide you and encourage you to try new things. See you soon!
I recently hired Shop with Val to help me prepare for a new job that required a work wardrobe overhaul. Val was amazing in every way. She clearly has impeccable taste in fashion, but also upholds the highest standard of professionalism, patience, and kindness throughout her process. She expertly blends her clients' wants and needs with her own wealth of knowledge. I decided to start with the closet consultation service so Val could help me take stock of what I needed most in the work department. As soon as she stepped into my apartment, Val was nothing but kind, sensitive, and professional. She never made me feel the least bit shamed about my closet and she created a comprehensive list of items to prepare us for the shopping trip to come. Then came the big shopping day. It was by far the best shopping experience I have ever had! Val took care of all the no-fun parts like swapping sizes and searching through racks. When I walked into the dressing room at the start of our session, she had already prepared a huge selection for me to choose from. All I had to do was try on! This made the quality of the experience so much more enjoyable and efficient. By the end, I came away with 40+ new items! 6 weeks later, I still have new clothes to wear to the office and the joy over my new wardrobe has not worn off. I haven't been this excited to get dressed since I was a teenager and I have Val to thank!May 4, 2019VerifiedShop With Val's reply
Thank you so much, Melissa. We made some pretty incredible progress. I’m glad to hear you are enjoying your new wardrobe. You got so many beautiful pieces. I look forward to continuing to assist you.
SOME GOOD THINGS I imagine Val spends far more time working for her clients than what she bills for. With her help, I have a wardrobe I'm more proud of and go on dates without wondering if I look foolish. My negative view of short-sleeve button downs was cured. It helps to have a woman's input. She educated me on color matching, in ways that I haven't read about online or in books yet. She directed me to sites for fashion education and tailors afterward, which I'd asked for. She saves you time by pulling the things to try on from the store beforehand. Walking around the mall with a young woman about as tall as me in her heels was an unexpected pleasure. SOME BAD THINGS We spent too much time on clothes that weren't a match. Some clients need a style revolution, but I was only looking for an upgrade. I bought clothes she recommended but regretted some of those purchases later. I think she should've made her search broader at first and narrowed it down. Her questionnaire asked if I had a style icon, but I don't follow fashion. Perhaps showing photos and asking if I were strongly opposed to anything would've helped.Aug 19, 2016Verified
First visit to New York (from Australia) with only a few days to see as much as possible. In terms of shopping, this was a job for a personal stylist! I am an experienced and confident shopper but Val helped me to target the stores that would maximise my spend, suit my style and find new looks that I normally would not try. She was just brilliant. On a personal note, Val is fun and down to earth and easy to click with. I have no hesitation recommending Shop With Val.Oct 14, 2015
Val worked with me to edit my closet, then shop for missing items. She was extremely professional and offered great suggestions. Val is resourceful, efficient, and terrific to work with! I was hesitant to work with a stylist but it was a great investment.Oct 23, 2015Shop With Val's reply

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Unlike many competitors, all of our rates are available on our website, shopwithval.com. There are no hidden fees. Wardrobe updates are available for $460 and include up to four hours of shopping. Other services like a Closet Consultation are offered at a flat rate of $395 (including up to 3 hrs) and a Home Rescue Visit (2 hr in-home session to build you a lookbook) is offered for $260. The best part is that if you are interested in more than one service or looking to work together on a regular basis, we offer a number of discounted packages that allow you to save up to 25% simply by purchasing your services together.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? When working with a new client we like to learn as much as we can about them so that we can customize a plan that is catered to their needs. We send new clients a detailed questionnaire so that we can gather information regarding style preferences, measurements, and budget. This information allows us to select stores and designers that we feel would be a good match.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?In 2010, our CEO, Valerie, was hired to help a friend in need after she had put on some weight and found herself in a style rut. After just a few hours together, she walked away with tons of new pieces that she kept saying, "I would have never picked this out myself, but I love it!" She was standing up a little taller and full of smiles and confidence. After having great success with her friend, Valerie realized it was time to put her shopping and styling skills to good use to help others the same way. A few months later, Shop With Val was born.
