Introduction: I think the essential element I have is great listening skills. Teaching isn't only about sharing my knowledge, but paying attention to how the student is learning and how he or she is interpreting how I'm communicating the information. That gives me the opportunity to tailor how I'm teaching to the student's needs and leads to results every time. It's always rewarding to get a text from a student a few weeks after we've finished working together updating me on how their score improved (every student I've ever taught has improved his or her score). I also enjoy the strategy involved in upping a student's score. I love to figure out the key that's going to unlock knowledge for the student. Most students know more than they think they do, and once that moment hits where the student truly realizes that, is when he or she soars.
