I have had a wonderful experience working with Maggie from Refresh Designs. She is very easy and fun to work with. I feel like I have made a new ( creative and artsy) friend. She has helped me transform my master bedroom into my own hotel suite and cozy sanctuary. I especially liked that Maggie gave me lots of options to fit my budget and style. We worked together and prioritized what was important to me. We ended up spending less on the bed then I thought we would which left more of the budget to splurge on custom window treatments and a marble topped dresser. Maggie has wonderful eclectic style and she gave me the courage to mix and match colors. My room has gold silver and bronze finishings--- it all works and looks amazing!!.

Maggie often joked about having the magic wand to make things better. Boy is that true. I hired Maggie right before the pandemic hit, causing our collaboration to last over a year. Not only did Maggie stand by us through the pandemic, getting some styling done remotely, but she used the time to learn our family and really understand not only our tastes, but our needs. In doing so, Maggie transformed nearly every room in our home from bare lifeless, colorless bones, to a warm, vibrant, welcoming home that reflects our personalities. Maggie is a gifted artist with clear visions for how colors, shapes, and styles work in a space. She gave us (loving) pushes to move outside of our comfort zones and the result is a home that my husband and I couldn't be more pleased with. These attributes, coupled with Maggie's motivated, resourceful, get it done personality, and her impeccable taste make for an interior designer/stylist that simply cannot be matched.

Details: Design of 1 - 2 rooms • Living room • Dining room • 500 - 1,000 sq ft • Space planning / layout • Color palette / paint selection • Furniture selection • Lighting selection • Window treatments selection • Accessories / art selection • Contemporary • Traditional • Midcentury Modern • Eclectic • Coastal • Shabby Chic • My home, venue, etc.

I met Maggie on my birthday in 2017 and have been working with her ever since. We work together room by room and she has transformed my apartment into a beautiful experience. I love coming home every evening and can’t wait to get home to enjoy it now. Maggie is creative and knows how to work with people on a budget. She searched far and wide for the right accessories and creatively repurposed the things I already owned. We are just finishing our work together but I wish I had even more rooms to style so I can keep working with her!! I recommend her highly and you will be thrilled to have her work with you too! From the first meeting with Maggie, I knew right away that I had to work with her! I had been apprehensive about beginning work with a designer because I was concerned about costs, how long the process would take, if she would have the "big picture" in mind and be able to communicate it or if would be a piece by piece project where I would be surprised at the end and, if the results would reflect my personal taste and needs. Our first convo hit on all my concerns which I had not voiced beforehand. Maggie has been a thought partner, a teacher, and has made the process exciting, fun and quick. I've lived in my house for three years with little change to make it feel like a home although I tried. Maggie has brought in tons of ideas, keyed in on my taste and in a matter of several weeks, I have been watching my family room, dining room, kitchen and living room transform before my eyes. I love her work style, she provides inspiration, we throw ideas back and forth and even push back on each others ideas when needed. This ensures that each decision is the best decision. We use a combination of Pinterest, email, text, phone, and face to face mtgs to communicate regularly. I love that she shops regularly for clients and texts or sends pics and thoughts real time. We've also gone shopping together which allowed me to pick her brain on design and decorating approaches when shopping for myself. I could continue on but do not want to give away all the pleasant surprises :). Maggie is full of resources and ideas and it is a pleasure working with her.

Not only is Maggie an incredibly gifted decorator with impeccable taste, but she is a joy to work with. I love her pleasant, warm, positive energy. She transformed my 5 year old daughter's tiny, dull room into a stunning oasis. And it somehow feels twice the size of what it did before. My favorite thing is that the room is timeless. Her room works for her now, but it will still work when she is a teen! Maggie genuinely cares about her clients and is passionate about her work. One day she even texted me pictures of some bedding and other accessories while she was out shopping. It is pretty cool how she shops for her clients, and that we got to collaborate in real time while she was at the store. I give Maggie my highest possible recommendation!

FAQs

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

First, I need to see the project. I like to get an idea of what the client wants and needs. After I get a feel of the style or period that the client would like to create, I get to work! Scouring and searching just to find the right furniture, art, and accessories to make the client's ideas a reality.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

My clients range from a young family making room in their apartment for a new baby to simply updating a room to incorporate current design elements.....I have done redesigns for Kitchens, Dining Rooms, Living Rooms, Family Rooms, Master Suites, Bathrooms, Closets, and Guest Rooms...

  • Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

I recently worked with a client who needed to redesign a master bedroom, including a walk in closet and a master bathroom. The house was originally a single family home. However, the previous owners had converted it into a three family residence and we now had to convert it back. My client had never had a walk in closet before. The bedroom came out beautiful and the closet and wall of shoes is her favorite part! The entire process took about 2 months....
