About
Many of us have taken personality tests, but my style of engaging with Type is more personal, deep, effective and accurate for clients. Written tests often lead people to answer how they wish they were as opposed to how they actually are. However, in conversations with me, my client and I arrive at a more accurate portrait of the person, by getting to know them in the context of their life. Every Type has unique strengths, and every Type can thrive in every career - all the more so with self-awareness, which is what we start building with you. The "ah ha" moments - the "that is so my boyfriend," or "that is exactly my boss," "I see, I can really handle this situation/relationship more effectively going forward" - instances when people gain crystal-clear awareness of something they'd only vaguely sensed in the past.

Hired on Thumbtack

I was looking for a way to improve my communication/interaction skills. I went to Thumbtack for recommendations on life coaches. What made me choose to work with Jim Treadway was that he reached out with some good questions – really trying to understand what I was looking to accomplish. It is clear to me that Jim, early in life, has captured the essence, value, and power of personality typing. He has studied the science of it and it seems to come naturally to him. You can see how passionate he is about using what he has learned to empower others -- as well as to assist them in transforming and growing. Working with Jim has transformed my perception of myself and others. I now see how my type affects how I think and respond to others. Learning about my type – and other types – has helped me unleash some of the roadblocks that have hindered my success, esteem and understanding. I highly recommend that you learn more about personality typing – and that you reach out to Jim to help you – as he truly is a master of this science and its intrinsic value in life. Dorothy O.

Jim empowers his clients through helping them identify their unique personality characteristics. The strength of his program is not just being able to classify your type, but applying how to understand and communicate with others, making one impactful professionally and personally. Working with him, I was able to learn how to and practice working together with the full spectrum of my colleagues, leading me to accomplish more in my career.

Jim is a true gem. What an amazing experience to learn so much about myself and others. I would highly recommend Jim to anyone looking to find self-connection and learn about how who they are affects how they interact with others. Really powerful!

I received a personality type consulting session with Jim over Skype and found his insights to be helpful (personally and professionally), and filled with wisdom/depth from the type field of knowledge. In the past, I have taken online personality tests like Myer's Briggs, Strength's Finder, and the Enneagram, and I found my session with Jim to be more enlightening because of the intuitive and thoughtful way he listens to my responses. He is a curious, patient, professional and concise, and I would highly recommend Jim to people looking to gain insights into their own natural preferences! Since my meeting with Jim, I have become more comfortable in my own skin. One breakthrough has been actualizing my introverted preference along with realizing the extroverted 'pull' I feel from employers and other parts of society. Brilliant!

What have I learned after my Type-Wise session? And what truth have I identified that I kinda/sorta/maybe/always knew was deep down inside of me? Being in the entertainment industry can be a challenge for people with my type. The key is to find ways to make my career work for me, an ESFJ. My session with Jim gave me a framework, clarity and motivation to get out of my career rut. I've always considered myself thick-skinned and flexible. But am I? Or is my "thick-skinned" quality actually an intense determination to succeed? Is my "flexible" quality actually a deep-rooted desire to please people? I think to myself: Of course, I can do this! I can do anything I put my mind to! I can launch myself into a career of auditions and rejections and standbys and maybes. Where there is a will, there is a way. Right? Well, I hit a point in my career where something wasn't firing on all cylinders, and I could not figure out what it was. Working with Jim and looking at type helped me find clarity. By understanding strengths and challenges for my type, it is easier for me now to move forward in an industry that I love (one filled with constant rejections and changes to the rules) while maintaining some balance and happiness in my life. Structure, clear order and hierarchy, acknowledging emotions--these are all things that are important to me (and my type). Yet these things do not consistently exist in an audition or callback room. So how can I set myself up for “success” in my career? The actual definition of success and the path to success is what I can adjust for myself. My goals do not have to be totally reconsidered, and that is comforting. How I achieve my goals can take place on my unique timeline with my unique sensibilities. There is no race to the finish line. When it feels like the race is on, I can now acknowledge the traits of my personality type that make me feel that way, and I can release my anxiety and my self-criticism. It's a marathon, people! After working with Jim and considering my current situation, it became clear to me that what I wanted (and needed) was a career in which I have a mix of stability and creativity with a supportive network. As I look at things now, I see that a combination of performing, teaching and producing is what I want. The Hollywood thing is hard to come by, and often based on chance. The audition life cannot be my only thing. I need an anchor somewhere out there or I feel like I'm just drifting along. The Hollywood goal is still in the picture, but it is not the only goal. I can live my life now without waiting for that particular benchmark of success to be happy. So what next? I can seek work that complements my strengths and still challenge me. I can give myself permission to do my best on each particular day, knowing full well that my best will be different each day. I can say yes to projects with a great creative team (“E”) and a script (“S”) with relatable characters (“F) that I can produce and keep on schedule (“J”). And, most importantly of all, I can encourage other people to do the same. Which is awesome.
