About
My favorite thing about my job is being able to give back the gifts that yoga, Pilates and massage have given me. I often see people walk in flustered, stressed, downhearted about their mental and/or physical state and leave with new information and seeing possibility rather than limitations. As they return for subsequent visits they become stronger, leaner, more focused, relaxed and also energized. They delve deeper into the work and take it into their daily lives. Knowing that they are set on a positive course and I'm there to support it is rewarding beyond words!

The 1.5 hour massage I had with Liz was wonderful, and was easily the best I've had in my six years in NYC. As a college athlete who's been to countless massage therapists and left lukewarm in my prior experiences with Thai massage, Liz's massage was a revelation. She incorporated this deep stretching-kneading aspect into her massage that left me sleeping like a baby after, and during, her time with me, and also more balanced and easy on my feet. I have only good things to say, and will definitely be a regular of Liz's in the future.

I have been doing pilates regularly for nearly 15 years. I have worked withanic different trainers. Liz Kresch is an amazing pilates instructor. She has a deep knowledge of the body as well as if the discipline. She combines this knowledge with a an almost spiritual sense - which comes from her yoga background - and creativity - which stems from her artistic background. She makes it fun, but the work is deep. I love working working with Liz!!

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I had scoliosis as a child and was given a series of exercises to do on my two hours out of the back brace I wore everyday. Ever since, I'd been fascinated with finding what works to heal the body as I encountered various challenges through my life. Eventually it became clear to me that I needed to get out of the chair I sat in all day at work and make physical wellness my life. For me, body work is 90% of mental wellness. There's no turning back!

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

When looking for a Thai Massage Therapist be sure to find a practitioner with experience in the field and who's certified. Beyond the certification, you want to know that your masseuse is patient, compassionate and has the ability to hear you and what your body are trying to say. Pilates and Yoga instructors as well. Be sure that your instructor has been trained at an accredited institution and that it was not just a "weekend training" so readily available these days. For equipment be sure that they are equipment and not just mat certified. Ask if they have referrals from other clients available. It's always best to hear from others who've worked with your therapist!
