About this pro

How does your service stand out?

I am both a performer, composer, improviser and teacher. I love teaching and trying to articulate what I mean as clearly as possible during lessons. I am very organised, punctual and polite, and am able to tailor lessons to almost any need. If I can't I'll suggest someone who might be able to.

What do you enjoy about the work you do?

Articulating why music and the piano are such fascinating things, and hopefully getting people to forge their own connection with music.

    Fantastic teacher, great teaching style
Marc is a fantastic teacher. I went to him with knowledge of music production, but wanted to learn more theory and start some improvisation. Marc has been very axiomatic in his approach of teaching me theory, and goes exactly at the pace that I learn, never too slow or fast. I would highly recommend Marc to anyone who wants to broaden themselves musically.

I look forward to going to my lesson every week. Not only Marc a professional but he's patient, talented and very supportive. He pays particulae attention to the pace at which the lesson moves and is always sure to confirm you understand the material before he moves any further. I recommend him to anyone who wishes to take piano lessons or learn about music theory! He's a wealth of knowledge and great to work with!

Marc is an excellent teacher. He was immediately able to pinpoint what I needed to learn based on my goal (playing keyboards in the band of a rock musical) and has tailored my lessons to meet my specific needs. He is able to explain concepts in a variety of different ways and gives me an appropriate amount of varied material to work on between lessons. I always leave my lessons inspired to practice and improve and feel I've learned a lot in a relatively short amount of time.

Marc is a fantastic teacher! His teaching style is pleasant and fun, and he provides a great combination of technique and theory. I'm a vocalist who was always curious about the piano, and needed more instruction in music notation. Marc never made me feel embarassed about the things I didn't know, and he gave me quite a few tools to aid practice and memorization. I had a great time, learned a lot, and look forward to future lessons.

I have studied piano and composition with Marc and found him to be an excellent teacher. He has a thorough knowlege of technique and theory, and always offered insightful and relevant critique of my work. Highly recommended!!!

I'm a classically trained pianist, and have been taking jazz lessons with Marc for the last 4 months. There are few things more challenging than teaching music -- so much of it is subtle, ineffable, technically complex, or more often than not all three. But Marc has an excellent sense of which approaches will work best for teaching a particular point, paces new material well, and seems to possess and encyclopedic knowledge of all things jazz. Highly recommend!

Q&A

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am an active musician who is always listening to and reading about whatever's going on in the music world. I try and keep as much abreast of all music as possible while maintaining my own focus.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I decided when I was 16 that music was for me. I also wanted to be a physicist, and thought about being a lawyer, but it was never really a serious competition: my strongest love was always music.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
You can get a very good sense of what teachers are like from talking to them, rather than reading. Talk to them and see if their personality appeals to you: it will most likely reflect their teaching style.
