About
My goal as a photographer is to capture the moments that speak volumes. Growing up always taking photos, I decided to minor in photography in college and now I am building a darkroom in my little Harlem studio; so for me, photography has always been a part of my life and has always shaped how I see the world. I find myself always framing an imaginary shot or thinking out loud, wow that would be a beautiful photo.
I believe my service stands out because I am very down to earth and I like to make people feel comfortable. I really love that this career introduces me to new people around the city because I think we all have such interesting stories to tell. I tend to frame shots that are romantic and artistically allow the subjects' personalities come through.
Do you remember those yearbook photos you took in grade school with the laser background and the goofy pose with your hand in a fist against your face as if you were punching yourself for looking so 90s? I dressed up like that for Halloween.I am all about being cheesy when I am goofing around, but I really cannot stand photos that look super staged and overly hokey.
For me, I love to give a little direction with posing or placement, but really, it's my job to get the good shot and it's yours to have fun! I want you to look at the photos we take together and smile because you remember what was making you laugh in that shot. I want you to feel special and see your personality in the photos I take.
People always tell me that they are not photogenic or don't like how they look in pictures, but I think that when a person is able to relax and be oneself, it becomes so simple to capture those genuine moments when one's emotions are right at the surface. This is what I love most about photography: capturing the beauty of our complex realities.

I actually do not know where I should start with my review, because Lauren is simply amazing. The shooting and the whole project with her was fantastic and truly everything for me I could have wished for!
She responded on my project on a Boudoir Session Photoshooting on thumbtack within minutes, and the follow-up communication was highly professional as it was efficient, and very easy for me. From the very first moment I felt super comfortable with her.
She offered me to catch up for a coffee before the shooting and it was a great pleasure to chat and exchange ideas beforehand. We fixed all the admin and the package during the coffee. Thus, we were all set before the shooting itself, had an idea in mind what we are aiming for and could make the most out of the hours of the shooting.
We had the most fun during the session and - if there is something like this - some magic and exciting moments where you feel "you're creating something really good". She made me feel super comfortable and I was able to try different outfits and posing throughout the session with her. As it was my very first photoshooting, I was a bit nervous about my "ability" to do it. However, Lauren hughly helped me with ideas for posing, where I should put my arms, my hair, my eyes etc. ;)
I got the pictures through a secured homepage which looks highly professional and is super easy to deal with. However, most importantly, the pictures are way more nicer as I would have ever expected them to be!
Lauren is hughly talented in capturing moments, emotions, and to show the "best version of yourself" in an authentic and absolutely charming way. I would have never imagined the pictures to look that fantastic given that I see myself every morning in the mirror ;).
Her work is truly wonderful and while being super professional, she is simply a great person to work with.
Whenever I might need a photographer for any occasion, Lauren is most definitely the first person I will ask for that. Many many thanks Lauren for this amazing experience with you!

Lauren photographed my proposal in NYC. Being from out of town and first timers, Lauren helped with tips on locations and times. Everything went smooth from the beginning to end. Lauren was sincere and professional. All the pictures were captured that I hoped for, I highly recommend her services.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Lauren von Eckhartsberg Photography! Bear with me as I gush about how FANTASTIC my experience with Lauren was.
1. I've known Lauren since we were in college, and despite not having seen her in almost a decade, Lauren's approach and demeanor was friendly, hospitable, and professional. She put me at ease and was 100% transparent from the get-go regarding what to expect and timelines. In a day and age where most people want to get you in and out the door, Lauren takes the time to make sure you know what you are getting from the get go. She knew that neither my fiance or myself wanted to do "cliche" or "typical" engagement photos, so she worked with us and suggested a great location and the majority of our photos are candid---and we couldn't be happier!
2. We brought our dog with us--our crazy, energetic dog--and Lauren did a great job. She managed to get shots of us with our puppy--despite the rain and her inability to sit. We are so happy that she captured our whole family.
3. Lauren has a special way of capturing intimate, vulnerable, and tender moments in a place as massive and busy and NYC. We took our photos in lower Manhattan, and I swear it looks like we're the only two people in the city. How she manages to do so blows my mind. Furthermore, I've looked at other photos that Lauren has done for other couples and it floors me that she makes a shoot in the middle of Times Square look intimate and private--AMAZING!
4. It was raining on the day our shoot--Lauren told us that this would make our photos look cool---and the pictures are incredible. The rain made our skin glow. They were really perfects. Kudos to her for braving the rain with her camera.
We are so, so happy we chose Lauren to capture our special moments. We cannot say enough about what a wonderful experience we will 100% use her services again!
