I presented a unique situation for Adam because of a disability -- I'm a right arm amputee -- and that's why I sought out one-on-one training. He worked with me, never making me feel I had limitations, all while making sure he understood if there were any pain points for me and taking advantage of my strengths in relation to my arm. But mostly, we simply worked on standard attacks and defenses. He demonstrated them clearly, identified what I needed to correct in my technique, gave encouragement and affirmation when I landed a strike or combination properly (that felt so good!). We talked over real world scenarios that are threatening, but with his humor I was able to remain loose and not tense up. All in all, a great instructor. Attuned to how I was doing. He knew when to push and when to back off a bit. The training sessions were extremely rewarding and he gave me tips to practicing at home. EXCELLENT.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
It depends on the individuals goals, but usually we begin with sharpening the weapons, ie: working on punches, kicks, knees and elbows. Next we focus on different scenarios: attack against x,y, or z. And then I usually allow time for questions about specifics and offer suggestions for at home drilling.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have trained in Krav Maga for 14 years, and Brazilian Jui Jitsu for 5 years.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I had always wanted to try martial arts, and when a friend described Krav Maga as a “no nonsense way to win a street fight,” I was hooked!
