I love sharing a passion for music with my students and helping them grow to be the best singers and performers that they can be. There is nothing more rewarding to me than helping a student realize their full potential and break through a barrier to accomplish something they otherwise never thought they could.
My personal performance experiences as a professional singer and actor continually help me develop new methods to coach students on ways to give their own performances spark and life, as well as to help students combat stage fright and performance anxiety. My classical training and technical base combined with the musical education and exposure to an incredibly wide variety of styles at Berklee College of Music has provided me with a well rounded teaching philosophy for healthy singing in styles ranging from Pop, Jazz, R&B and Country, to Rock, Motown, Soul, Blues, and Musical Theater. I work with all ages and all levels: my students have ranged from absolute beginners to professional performers, and have varied in age from five to seventy years old.

Mara was a real pleasure to work with and a true professional. She was engaged and engaging right off the bat, which really helped with the sort of awkward beginning to something like this. We broke the ice and got to work and I felt comfortable very quickly, which I think is a testament to Mara's quality as an instructor - I felt like I was in good hands. Mara's been great with helping me get back into vocal shape after several years off. I had four weeks to prepare for a show I was not ready for and with Mara's help I was fine. She is wonderfully flexible about scheduling and location.
Mara is friendly, approachable, she tailors lessons to what I want and need, but also isn't afraid to challenge me when I need that too. She's helped me work on songs I have no sheet music for, even offered to throw something together to work with!
I'm so happy with my lessons and hope to continue working with her for a long time.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Lesson pricing is $60 per 30 minute lesson, $75 per 45 minute lesson (online only), or $100 per 1 hour lesson. Payment is accepted by cash, Venmo, or Zelle.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to take a few minutes to chat with new students to learn more about them and their vocal goals, as well as any prior training/musical experience. Then we will get straight to work! Lessons are highly tailored to each individual based on their level and needs, but the general structure consists of a quick stretch, followed by breathing exercises, a solid vocal warm-up and technical exercises, ear training, and work on songs and building repertoire. All styles of music are welcome.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a Bachelor of Music degree in Professional Music: Vocal Performance (summa cum laude) from Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA and am a graduate of the One Year Acting Conservatory at T. Schreiber Studio for Film & Theatre in NYC. I continue to take voice lessons privately and am a member of the Actors' Equity Association.
